Golden Circle launches pie sale fundraiser

Red Deerians with a sweet tooth now have the opportunity to indulge in their love for desserts while helping out local seniors at the same time.

The Golden Circle Senior Resource Centre is selling five inch pies for $6 apiece, all in support of the vibrant community hub which offers numerous programs and services for local seniors.

Golden Circle staff are baking apple, cherry, and blueberry pies, crumbles, and raisin butter tarts. After ordering, customers can utilize curb-side pickup of their treats on Fridays at the Golden Circle.

“The demand for the service continues to go up, the costs go up, and in order for us to be here to serve the community, we need to fundraise in order to keep the doors open,” explains Monica Morrison, Golden Circle Senior Resource Centre Executive Director, when asked how import events like this are to their facility.

Morrison says with all the challenges surrounding fundraising during the pandemic, selling homemade pies was felt to be one way of boosting revenues.

Morrison says you can phone to order your pie(s), and then pick them up at the Golden Circle (4620 47 A Avenue).
