Gas leaks prompts emergency road closure at 40 Ave and Ross Street

Ross Street at 40 Avenue is closed this morning due to an underground natural gas leak in the area.

The City of Red Deer says the closure will be in effect until at least noon as Red Deer Emergency Services and ATCO crews work to repair the leak.

Ross Street and 43 Avenue will also be closed.

Detours are in place, but drivers are asked to take an alternate route if possible.

City officials say no evacuations are needed at this time.
