Tentative agreement reached between franchophone teachers and employer
The Alberta Teachers’ Association, on behalf of educators employed by Conseil Scolaire Centre-Nord (CSCN), has signed a memorandum of understanding for a new contract.
It was reported by the ATA on Friday that francophone teachers had voted 94 per cent in favour of strike action after going more than two full school years without a new collective agreement.
Teachers were asking for access to a wellness account and better language addressing administrator lieu days, something the other 57 school divisions throughout Alberta already have.
The two sides met on Saturday, and now that an MOU has been signed, each party will have a ratification vote. Teachers will vote on Feb. 3 while the employer will do so on Feb. 10.
