Suspects sought in Bowden armed robbery

Jan 25, 2021 | 12:50 PM

RCMP in Olds are investigating an armed robbery that occurred over the weekend in Bowden.

It was just before 8 p.m. Sunday when Olds RCMP were called by a 19-year-old male who reported that he was walking to meet a friend near the Lions Community Hall in Bowden when he was approached by two males, while a third person stood nearby.

Police say in a release that the two suspects, who appeared to be carrying pellet or BB guns at the time, demanded that the victim get on the ground and proceeded to punch and slap him. The assailants searched the victim while he was on the ground and took his wallet before fleeing. The victim received only minor injuries, according to RCMP.

Officers from the Olds, Sundre and Innisfail RCMP Detachments responded, as did Police Dog Services out of Red Deer, but were unsuccessful in tracking the suspects. Forensic Identification Services are also assisting with the investigation.

The three suspects, all believed to be in their teens or early 20’s, are described as:

• Suspect 1: Taller Caucasian male, slender, wearing a black mask, dark jeans and a yellow hooded sweatshirt with a dark sweater or vest on top

• Suspect 2: Taller male, slender, wearing a medical mask with a black mask, a red shirt or hoodie and grey or tan coloured pants

• Suspect 3: Unknown if male or female, approximately 5’5” and heavier set

At this time, police believe the attack to have been targeted and there does not appear to be a safety concern for the general public.
