Shandro, Hinshaw share COVID-19 update for Jan. 25

Alberta’s health minister and chief medical officer of health and officials will provide an update on COVID-19 and the ongoing work to protect public health.

Tyler Shandro and Dr. Deena Hinshaw will speak at a news conference slated to begin at 3:30 p.m. You can watch it live below once it begins.

Hinshaw tweeted on Sunday that the recent drop in the daily number of new COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations in Alberta is “encouraging.”

But she said people need to “keep the momentum going” and follow public health guidance.

The province reported 24 new COVID-19 deaths and 463 new cases yesterday, as well as 652 people in Alberta hospitals with COVID-19, 111 of which are in intensive care.

A month ago, the province was typically reporting over a thousand new COVID-19 cases a day.
