Local man sentenced to 18 years for one of Alberta’s largest child pornography busts
A central Alberta man has been handed an 18-year prison sentence following one of the largest child pornography busts in Alberta’s history.
The man, who can’t be named due to a publication ban to protect the identity of his victims, was also given a 10-year Long-Term Supervision Order, a lifetime prohibited weapons and firearms ban, the requirement to register as a sex offender, and order to submit his DNA.
He was also given time-and-a-half credit, however, for two years already spent behind bars, so now has 15 years left to serve.
During sentencing in Red Deer provincial court on Tuesday, Judge Jim Hunter described the now 36-year-old man’s actions as “deplorable.”
