Saving Grace Animal Society hosting “Facebook Live Telethon” for new vet clinic

Saving Grace Animal Society hopes to make 2021 a good year for their animals.

They are hosting a “Facebook Live Telethon” as they work on fundraising for a $500,000 veterinarian clinic next to their existing animal shelter in Alix. The first $100,000 will be enough to get the shovels in the ground.

“Some of the cases we see medical-wise, neglect wise are pretty extreme. There aren’t a lot of other rescues or organizations that are able to take on cases that are so extensive because the medical bills really pile up for those dogs and cats,” explains Amanda McClughan, development director with Saving Grace Animal Society.

“If there aren’t originations to help those animals then, it’s sad to think about where they would be.”

McClughan says they want to be able to give the best care possible and access to help as many animals as they can.

Saving Grace Animal Society has only been existence since February 2018. In that time they have successfully adopted out over 1000 dogs and nearly 700 other animals, and have organized nine successful major rescue missions.

McClughan says having a vet clinic on-site would greatly help with more rescues, adoptions and much more.

The “Facebook Live Telethon” is slated for February 28 starting at 10 a.m.

If you want to get involved ahead of time you can join as a team of five to start raising money. The top three fundraising teams will receive Saving Grace’s VIP experience. Businesses are also encouraged get involved.

McClughan says that if all goes well they might look into making the telethon an annual event.
