Building permit values up in December

The City of Red Deer says building permit applications increased in both quantity and value last month when compared with the same month the year prior.

According to the latest stats, 69 building permits were issued in December, up from 67 in December, 2019. Permit values were also higher, totaling nearly $6.3 million last month, up from $4.1 million in December the year before.

Year-to-date numbers were also higher in 2020, with nearly $261 million in building permits issued, up from $118.9 million in 2019.

Notable permits over the past 12 months include:

  • Building permit to construct a new commercial retail building at 2110-90 Thorburn Avenue, valued at $1,053,000
  • Building permit to construct a new commercial retail building at 3110-90 Thorburn Avenue, valued at $813,675
  • Building permit to construct a new commercial retail building at 1110-90 Thorburn Avenue, valued at $705,510
  • Building permit to complete exterior renovations on commercial building at 30 Davidson Drive, valued at $450,000
  • Building permit to construct a new detached, single family dwelling with attached garage at 6264 Cronquist Drive, valued at $361,926.
