Innisfail RCMP seize drugs and lay charges after responding to vehicle in ditch

A Sylvan Lake man is facing multiple charges after RCMP linked the driver of a vehicle in a ditch to an Innisfail break-in Wednesday morning.

On Jan. 6, at 5:55 a.m., Innisfail RCMP were dispatched to a complaint of a break and enter at a local business in the town of Innisfail. While investigating that complaint, police received a call at 7:42 a.m. of a vehicle in the ditch in rural Red Deer County.

RCMP members attended and determined the male driver to be on outstanding warrants. He was arrested, and during a search subsequent to his arrest, RCMP seized a quantity of suspected drugs and paraphernalia related to drug trafficking.

Further investigation led police to locate and seize property that was determined to be stolen during the earlier break and enter. RCMP then formed grounds that the male’s ability to operate a motor vehicle was impaired by a drug.

Lee Michael Falsetta, 34, has been charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking, break and enter, theft under $5000, impaired operation of a conveyance, and possession of proceeds of crime.

Mounties say Falsetta was brought before a justice of the peace, and released to appear in Red Deer Provincial Court on Feb. 2, 2021.

Innisfail RCMP note their appreciation for the alert citizen who contacted the RCMP for assistance in relation to the vehicle in the ditch.

If anyone has information regarding this or any other criminal activity, they are asked to contact Innisfail RCMP Detachment at 403-227-3341 or their local police service.
