Alberta’s COVID-19 vaccine distribution increases; 1,300 new cases reported

EDMONTON, AB- Alberta announced an estimated 1,300 new cases of COVID-19 on Friday.

That’s out of about 16,000 test results for a positivity rate of approx. eight per cent.

Dr. Deena Hinshaw provided a summarized update on Twitter on Friday.

Hospitalizations and ICU admissions remain stable, according to Hinshaw.

The chief medical officer of health also said the rate of vaccine distribution has increased from 6,502 to 14,244 over the past three days, boosting the rate by 119 per cent.

By the end of Friday, according to Hinshaw, the rate of distribution will increase by nearly 160 per cent after 3,000 more doses of the vaccine are expected to be administered.
