Drayton Valley RCMP Report: December 23 – December 30

December 23

8:52 am – Drayton Valley – Complainant wanted to report a collision that occurred 2 months ago. Vehicle had caused damage to a building.

10:48 am – Brazeau County – Country Style Trailer Court – Complainant requesting assistance to get their vehicle back. Ex has vehicle at the moment and is trying to start it. No insurance or registration on vehicle. Vehicle is registered to both of the parties. Civil matter.

1:20 pm – Drayton Valley – Walmart – Complainant called to report they were parked at Walmart and an unknown vehicle struck their bumper.

1:26 pm – Drayton Valley – Complainant reporting a male laying on cardboard. Male is wearing all black and a toque. Member attended and located known male who was provided a courtesy ride.

3:14 pm – Drayton Valley – Complainant reporting a male in a dumpster. Male had been asked to leave, however, he refused. Members attended and it was the male from the previous call. Male was told to get out of the dumpster and leave. Male did as requested.

5:32 pm – Drayton Valley – Complainant reporting a shoplifter at Walmart. Male had taken some knives. Members attended and located male from previous complaints. Members found 2 knives in packaging and a pair of gloves removed from the packaging. All items returned to the store. Male asked to leave.

6:31 pm – Drayton Valley – Complainant reporting 2 unwanted females are causing a disturbance in the hallway. Members attended, females had left prior to arrival.

7:04 pm – Drayton Valley – 50 Avenue – Complainant reporting an unwanted person behind the community outreach school. Male is going through the garbage. Member attended, male had left prior to arrival.

8:14 pm – Brazeau County – RR 73 – Complainant reporting they got into a fight with their roommate. Parties separated for the night.

8:50 pm – Drayton Valley – Complainant reporting an unwanted intoxicated female is causing a disturbance. Member attended, female had calmed down and was in their residence.

9:10 pm – Drayton Valley – Complainant reporting a suspicious male pushing a shopping cart full of wood. Now trying to get back into the dumpster. Male had been reported several times during the day and early evening causing issues. Members attended and advised the male to move along and that he was not to return.

December 24

2:22 am – Drayton Valley – 50 Street – Complainant reporting a suspicious vehicle with 2 to 3 occupants. Vehicle is a blue older model car. Members patrolled area. Vehicle located but no occupants.

6:22 am – Drayton Valley – 44 Street – Report of a possible domestic situation inside of a vehicle. Police attended, the people inside the vehicle had left, but police determined the vehicle had been reported stolen from Strathmore. The vehicle was towed and held for a forensic examination.

11:33 am – Brazeau County – Twp 512 – Panic alarm at a residence. Police attended, no emergency.

7:48 pm – Drayton Valley – 50 Avenue – Report of a large gathering contrary to Public Health Orders. Police attended, no infractions found, was within restriction levels.

10:05 pm – Drayton Valley – 55 Avenue – Lost luggage with an iPad somewhere in town, fell off a vehicle. Reported it to police in case someone turns it in. After following up later, police learned that the people who found the property already located the owners and returned it.

December 25

1:37 am – Drayton Valley – 36 Street – Complainant reporting they heard a noise outside and when they looked outside they saw the doors to their truck were open. Loose change, handheld GPS, and orange ATK winter coveralls stolen.

6:34 am – Drayton Valley – 47 Street – Report of 2 loud bangs heard, unknown source. Police attended and patrolled the area and spoke with residents that were awake. Nothing was found.

11:06 am – Brazeau County – RR 73 – Company truck entered sometime overnight, multiple power tools stolen.

1:36 pm – Drayton Valley – 47 Street – 911 hangup from a room in a retirement home. Staff checked on the occupant, no emergency, call was an error.

3:07 pm – Drayton Valley – 44 Street – Hit & Run, parked vehicle hit at some point and no information left behind.

7:19 pm – Drayton Valley – 52 Avenue – Report of 2 people on the roof of a business. Police attended, nobody located. No indication of attempted break-ins.

December 26

2:00 am – Drayton Valley – 56 Street – Complaint of a suspicious person on a bike scoping out yards. Members patrolled the area but were unable to locate anyone.

8:16 am – Drayton Valley – 45 Street – Report of theft and unauthorized use of a credit card. The victim identified the suspect to police and charges are pending.

1:33 pm – Parkland County – Tomahawk – Civil property dispute, both parties advised this was not a police issue.

3:20 pm – Drayton Valley – 51 Avenue – License plate stolen from a vehicle sometime in the past couple of days. The plate was recovered on the stolen vehicle that was recovered on December 24.

5:13 pm – Brazeau County – Hwy 22 – Report of an erratic driver that hit the ditch. When the caller stopped to offer assistance the driver was very hostile and appeared to be having a domestic-related argument in the vehicle. Police attended and found the driver to be breaching release conditions and was arrested without incident. After investigating further, police determined there was an error on the release conditions and no charges were laid. The parties were separated.

7:39 pm – Brazeau County – Twp 492 – Complaint of an impaired driver. Police attended the area, patrols were made, but unable to locate the vehicle.

10:56 pm – Drayton Valley – 46 Street – Report of someone shooting fireworks. Police attended, no damage was caused, unable to locate the person responsible.

December 27

2:27 am – Drayton Valley – 52 Street – A vehicle with trailer with no plate attached at a residence. Police attempted a traffic stop when the vehicle fled at a high rate of speed north on Highway 22. The suspect later claimed he was being harassed by police to another officer at an unrelated incident and admitted to fleeing from police. Charges are pending.

2:45 am – Drayton Valley – 49 Avenue – Complaint of a verbal confrontation over a dog.

5:12 am – Brazeau County – Poplar Ridge Trailer Court – Report of domestic-related property damage. Suspect was the same person involved in the dog confrontation earlier. Matter is still under investigation.

7:42 am – Brazeau County – Hwy 620 – Collision between a vehicle and a deer.

8:16 am – Drayton Valley – 42 Avenue – Complainant reporting their 2017 black Dodge Ram pickup had been broken into. Two wrenches, loose change, and garage door opener stolen.

11:24 am – Drayton Valley – Northview Crescent – Complainant reporting their vehicle had been rummaged through.

12:24 pm – Drayton Valley – Meier Avenue – Abandoned bike with 2 flat tires near a light post. Police picked up the bike which was not listed as stolen.

12:38 pm – Drayton Valley – 47 Avenue – Police were called to a domestic situation that resulted in the complainant’s vehicle being taken without permission. Police located the suspect, who was arrested and released for court. Charges are pending for theft of a motor vehicle.

12:59 pm – Drayton Valley – An irate complainant called reporting an impaired driver. The caller refused to provide the location or information regarding the vehicle description.

3:54 pm – Drayton Valley – 50 Avenue near 45 Street – Report of a possible domestic, complainant saw two people arguing and one punch the other and then walked west down 50 Avenue. Police patrolled the area but could not locate anyone.

4:15 pm – Drayton Valley – While patrolling for the above complaint, police located a female wanted for several offences, including break and enter and theft. The female, who was quite intoxicated, was arrested without incident and transported to cells where she was held until sober and released for court on a later date.

4:33 pm – Drayton Valley – 45 Street – Complainant reported that their vehicle license plate was stolen at some point and replaced by a trailer plate. Police recovered the trailer plate and listed their plate as stolen.

9:41 pm – Drayton Valley – Power Centre Blvd – Report of an intoxicated male laying on the sidewalk at the corner of Walmart. Police attended and provided the male a ride to the Econorest.

December 28

2:27 am – Drayton Valley – Industrial Road – Complaint of a possible domestic, 3rd party caller observed a male and female pushing each other, last seen on bikes riding away from the location. Police attended and patrolled the area but could not locate the pair.

7:35 am – Drayton Valley – 50 Avenue – A business compound was entered sometime between December 24 and December 28. Several catalytic converters were stolen from trucks.

10:35 am – Brazeau County – Country Style Trailer Court – Police were called to assist with a medical call.

11:31 am – Drayton Valley – Complainant reporting mailbox behind Fas Gas is damaged and parcel compartment open.

12:04 pm – Brazeau County – RR 101A – Burnt out truck located at a gravel pit. Police recovered the vehicle and believe it is related to a vehicle stolen earlier this month.

4:42 pm – Drayton Valley – 50 Street – Report of shoplifting that occurred on December 24.

5:35 pm – Drayton Valley – 44 Avenue – Suspicious person scoping out vehicles. Police located and identified the suspect, no evidence of an offence at this time.

8:19 pm – Parkland County – Multiple 911 hangups received from a deactivated cell phone, nothing said on the line, police were unable to follow up.

December 29

2:12 am – Drayton Valley – 51 Avenue – Complaint of a homeless person sleeping in the atrium of a bank. Police attended and offered the person a ride to the MAT program but it was refused and they left the area.

4:27 am – Drayton Valley – 45 Street – Report of an unknown male breaking into vehicles and was chased away by the owner of the vehicle. Police attended the area, but the male was not located. It did not appear any vehicles were damaged in the immediate area.

8:10 am – Brazeau County – Complainant reporting their white 2018 Range Rover stolen. Members located vehicle. Light damage to vehicle. Vehicle returned to owner.

9:08 am – Drayton Valley – 52 Street – Complainant reporting their ex has been threatening them. Statement provided.

10:05 am – Brazeau County – Hwy 22 – Complainant reporting homeless people are in the landfill and lit a mattress on fire. Members attended. Fire had been put out. Continual patrols to be made.

1:18 pm – Drayton Valley – 53 Avenue – Complainant called to report ex is outside their new place, calling them mean names. Member attended, ex was gone prior to arrival. Ex warned about behaviour.

3:44 pm – Brazeau County – Complainant reporting they found a 500-gallon propane tank on a lease site.

5:01 pm – Drayton Valley – 46 Street – Complainant reporting prank calls received from blocked number.

5:45 pm – Parkland County – Complainant reporting a break and enter to their garage. Garage door pried open and cupboards have been rummaged through.

6:11 pm – Drayton Valley – 52 Avenue – Complainant reporting harassing communications being received. Complainant has the watch which belongs to suspect and they want it back.

8:01 pm – Drayton Valley – 53 Avenue – Complainant reporting neighbours are arguing with them over an attempted theft of items outside the door. Members attended, female given a courtesy ride.

10:40 pm – Brazeau County – Hwy 22 – Complainant reporting a possible break and enter to the landfill. Members attended and located a male going through the garbage. Male escorted from area and advised not to return.

December 30

2:45 am – Brazeau County – Complainant reporting vandalism to a cell tower. Members attended and confirmed one of the outbuildings was broken into and several batteries stolen.

6:28 am – Brazeau County – Elk River Road – Complainant reporting a single-vehicle rollover. Black 2010 Ford F-350 is upside down in the ditch. 2 occupants. No injuries.
