Two charged after Innisfail Mounties seize meth, oxy from vehicle with stolen plate

Two men face charges after Innisfail RCMP seized methamphetamine and oxycodone this week from a car bearing a stolen licence plate.

It was at about 7 p.m. on Tuesday when patrolling members with the Innisfail General Investigation Section located a Honda Civic with a stolen plate at a gas station in town.

Police say the vehicle was covertly followed until it parked at a second location and the occupants exited the vehicle before being arrested.

A search of the vehicle turned up multiple ounces of methamphetamine and hundreds of oxycodone tablets. A passenger in the vehicle was also found to have multiple counterfeit identification documents on his person.

Steve Bigras-Varin, 31 from Edmonton was charged with:

– Possession of methamphetamine for the purpose of trafficking

– Possession of oxycodone for the purpose of trafficking

– Possession of a stolen licence plate

– Three breaches for current release orders

– Drive while suspended

– Drive with no insurance; and,

– Display unauthorized licence plate.

Maxime Falardeau-Viau, 32, from Calgary, was charged with four counts of possessing a fraudulent identity document.

Both also had outstanding arrest warrants and were Taken before a Justice of the Peace before being released to appear in Red Deer court early next year.
