Man arrested after fatal shooting at Sunchild First Nation

One man is in custody following a fatal shooting on the Sunchild First Nation Sunday morning.

On Dec. 6 at 5:57 a.m., Rocky Mountain House RCMP launched an investigation into a shooting outside a residence.

Mounties say the victim was declared deceased on scene and the Major Crimes Unit took carriage of the investigation.

The investigation led police to locate a suspect vehicle and contain a residence on the Sunchild First Nation. With the assistance of the Emergency Response Team, the suspect male surrendered and was taken into custody at approximately 5:20 p.m.

Keean Frencheater, 24, of Sunchild First Nation, is charged with one count of second degree murder in the homicide of Jason Lagrelle, 39.

Frencheater remains in custody following a bail hearing held Monday.

He is scheduled to appear in provincial court of Rocky Mountain House this Wednesday, Dec. 9.
