Red Deer now with 269 active COVID-19 cases

Alberta reported another 1,685 cases of COVID-19 on Wednesday.

That’s out of 18,432 tests over last 24 hours as the provincial positivity rose to about 9.2 per cent.

There are now 17,144 active cases in the province, an increase of 516. The number of recoveries sits at 43,464, an increase of 1,159.

There are now 504 Albertans in hospital because of COVID-19, an increase of 25, including 97 in ICU, a decrease of one.

Alberta reported 10 more deaths related to the novel coronavirus on Wednesday to bring the total to 561.

Red Deer saw its number of active cases rise by 12 to 269. Recovered cases are up 11 to 367 as the total number of cases attributed to the city rose by 23 to sit at 636.

Red Deer County has 78 active cases, an increase of five, while Sylvan Lake added one to sit with 65.

Lacombe County now has 47 active cases, an increase of one, while Lacombe held steady with 39.

Ponoka County saw its active case count go from 222 as of Tuesday to 176 on Wednesday, a decrease of 46.

Clearwater County (Rocky Mountain House) added one active case for a total of 39.

Mountain View County held steady with 18 active cases, Olds remained with 23, Kneehill County dropped one to sit with 11 active cases Starland County added one to sit with five. The County of Stettler held steady with 13.

There are now 1,226 active cases across the Central zone and 36 hospitalizations, including four in ICU. The zone has recorded it’s 17 death, a man in his 90s linked to the outbreak at the Seasons Camrose seniors facility. The case included comorbidities.
