AJHL pauses season following new provincial restrictions
Less than two weeks after it got underway, the Alberta Junior Hockey League has put its 2020-21 regular season on pause following new COVID-19 restrictions announced Tuesday by the provincial government.
Officials with the 15-team league say the season will remain on pause “until existing limitations are lifted and we are permitted to safely return.”
The AJHL Board of Governors will reconvene on December 19 to determine a timeline and updated protocols for return to play.
Prior to Wednesday night’s announcement from the league, the Olds Grizzlys had announced they were pausing all team activities until December 3 as a precautionary measure after several other teams had experienced cases of COVID-19.
