Making Adjustments

New health measures force changes at City of Lacombe facilities

Nov 25, 2020 | 4:30 PM

The City of Lacombe is making adjustments to its regular operations following newly announced public health measures from the province on Tuesday to combat the spread of COVID-19.

On Wednesday, City officials announced the Lacombe Memorial Centre is now closed for all bookings and holiday gatherings for as long as provincial guidelines remain in place.

Access will be permitted for the Mary C. Moore Public Library, Lacombe FCSS and Anna Maria’s Café. The east corridor, however, will not be open to the public.

The Gary Moe Auto Group Sportsplex will be closed to all users and user groups for at least the month of December, and until provincial restrictions are lifted.

The Kinsmen Aquatic Centre will remain open. Although provincial restrictions would allow more, capacity will be limited to 60 patrons. Lane swimming and individual classes will stay in place but must be pre-booked.

Lacombe City Hall will remain open for December. However, residents are discouraged from attending in person, if possible.

City staff encourages residents to conduct their City business online or over the phone. Instructions on how to do so can be found on the City’s website. This includes paying municipal taxes, which are due December 31.

The City Public Works Facility and Lacombe Fire Department are both closed to the public except by appointment for December or until restrictions are lifted.

The one remaining City of Lacombe council meeting in 2020 can be viewed live on Dec. 7 through the City of Lacombe YouTube channel.

Lacombe residents can keep up to date with regional COVID-19 measures by logging on to www.lacombe.ca/covid19.

As of Nov. 25, the City of Lacombe has 19 active cases of COVID-19, meaning the City is under ‘enhanced’ status.
