Dr. Hinshaw to share latest update as Alberta prepares new COVID-19 measures

On the heels of the province setting daily case records each of the past four days, Alberta’s chief medical officer of health is set to deliver her latest update on the COVID-19 situation this afternoon.

Dr. Deena Hinshaw is scheduled to speak at a media conference slated for 2 p.m., 90 minutes earlier than her usual 3:30 p.m. start time.

Today’s update comes amid reports that the provincial government is on the verge of announcing new COVID-19 restrictions.

Government sources have confirmed to several media outlets that that the province’s Priorities Implementation Committee, which includes Premier Jason Kenney, is meeting Monday afternoon, and that an announcement of additional measures is likely to happen Tuesday.

Alberta reported 1,584 new cases on Sunday, the most among all provinces in Canada for Nov. 22.
