Red Deer with 110 active COVID-19 cases as Alberta sets another daily record

Alberta has set another daily record with 1,105 new COVID-19 cases reported on Thursday.

Lab testing data remains unavailable at this time due to ongoing technical issues.

There are now 10,382 active cases across the province, an increase of 325 from Wednesday.

Alberta has had 31,964 recovered cases, an increase of 772.

The province is reporting an additional eight deaths from the virus for a total of 451. Four of the latest deaths were in Calgary and the other four in Edmonton.

There are 284 people in hospital because of the virys, three less than Wednesday, including 61 in intensive care, an increase of four.

Red Deer added one more active case of COVID-19 for a total of 110. There have been 246 recovered cases, an increase of 14, as the total number of cases attributed to the city rose by 14 to 356.

Red Deer County has 14 active cases, an increase of one, while Sylvan Lake held steady with nine.

Lacombe has 16 active cases, a decrease of one, and Lacombe County has 16, an increase of four.

Rocky Mountain House remains with six active cases. Mountain View County held steady with 13, while Olds added three more for the second day in a row for a total of seven.

Kneehill County added six active cases for a total of 12, Starland County and the County of Stettler each remain with one.

In Ponoka County, the number of active COVID-19 cases has risen to 117, a sharp increase from 93 on Wednesday.

The Central zone as a whole has 508 active cases and 10 hospitalizations, none in intensive care.

Red Deer, Lacombe, Lacombe County, Ponoka County, Mountain View County and Kneehill County are all under ‘enhanced’ status according to the province’s status map, meaning additional measures are in place to help limit spread of the virus.
