Red Deer with 94 active COVID-19 cases heading into weekend

Alberta recorded another 907 cases of COVID-19 over the past 24 hours, according to Friday’s online update from Alberta Health.

The number of tests completed is unavailable as the province continues dealing with technical issues with its COVID-19 website.

Alberta has 8,593 active cases, up 288 since Thursday, and 28,321 recovered cases, up 614.

There are now 240 Albertans in hospital with COVID-19, 54 of which are in ICU, and five more deaths for a total of 398.

There have been a total of 37,312 cases in Alberta over the course of the pandemic.

Red Deer added two active cases for a record-tying total of 94. Recoveries are up by 11 to 210 and the total number of COVID-19 cases attributed to the city is now listed at 304. REd Deer has yet to record any deaths as a result of COVID-19.

Red Deer remains under enhanced status and subject to the targeted measures announced yesterday by Premier Jason Kenney.

Red Deer County remains with 10 active cases, while Sylvan Lake is down to eight.

The city of Lacombe held steady with 20 active cases. Lacombe County added one and now has seven.

Ponoka County added four more active cases for a total of 67.

Rocky Mountain House (Clearwater County) remains with six active cases.

Mountain View County has 16 active cases, an increase of two, while the town of Olds remains with one. Kneehill County held steady with 10 active cases.

The Central Zone has 353 active cases as of Friday’s update, including seven hospitalizations.
