Rocky RCMP Report October 24-29

This is a report released to the media from the Rocky Mountain House (RMH) RCMP giving a brief description of various crimes and call-ins, both solved and unsolved throughout the community between the dates of October 24-29

Not all crimes reported are listed in this report.

October 24

1:23 A.M. – Call of a suspicious male who attempted to gain access to the backdoor of a local RMH motel. He said that he needed to “score.” He had left prior to police arrival.

11:40 A.M. – Vehicle broken into while parked at a residence in RMH. A GPS and 2 pairs of sunglasses were stolen.

1:37 A.M. – Complaint of liquor provided to minors on the Sunchild First Nations Reserve.

1:46 P.M. – Complaint of an erratic driver in a vehicle with a burnt out tail light. Police located the vehicle in RMH and the driver was arrested after determining he had outstanding arrest warrants.

October 25

2:09 P.M. – Threats made to owner’s dogs on the O’Chiese First Nations Reserve.

4:03 P.M. – Report of a fraudulent use of a stolen bank card at the Leslieville store. The owner’s wallet had been stolen earlier from his vehicle while parked in a rural subdivision southwest of RMH, where he was out for a walk.

7:40 P.M. – The RMH Crime Reduction Unit stopped a vehicle in RMH for misuse of the licence plate. The driver and passenger were both arrested after a gun and ammunition were located in the vehicle along with liquor. The passenger is also facing charges for failing to comply with a previous release order.

October 26

2:43 A.M. – Call of a male sleeping in the stairwell of a local RMH hotel. Police attended and arrested the drunk individual. He was released after sobering up.

8:39 A.M. – Report of a B&E to an oil lease site northwest of RMH. Damage estimated at $10,000 including cut electrical lines. However, no wire was stolen as they use aluminum instead of copper wire.

9:49 A.M. – Shoplifter reported at RMH department store. 2 older males stole Helly Hanson jackets, a table saw, and a router set. Suspects on surveillance video. Under investigation.

11:44 A.M. – Call of a male youth smashing a security camera with a hockey stick at the RMH community center. Police located and arrested the individual. He was released to the care of his parent. Charges are pending.

12:21 P.M. – Police recovered a stolen GMC truck and a Yamaha quad on the Sunchild First Nations Reserve. The truck had been reported stolen earlier in the month from St. Albert, while the quad was stolen from the Crimson Lake area in August.

4:55 P.M. – 911 call of a drunk male causing a disturbance at a RMH gas station / convenience store. He was screaming and yelling gibberish while blocking the front door. Police attended and arrested the individual.

6:06 P.M. – Report of a robbery at a RMH clothing and department store. A male entered the store wearing a green puffy jacket, camo pants, and a clown face balaclava. As he was paying for a drink, he reached over and grabbed cash out of the till and fled on foot.

October 27

8:14 A.M. – Call of an individuals sleeping in the entrance of a RMH bank. Police attended and sent him on his way.

11:11 A.M. – Theft of electrical cable from various lease sites in Clearwater County over the last 2 weeks.

October 28

4:38 A.M. – Complaint of unknown individuals going through yard, freezer, and deck area of a residence in RMH. They took off when he woke up.

2:52 P.M. – Black 2003 GMC Sierra stolen from the O’Chiese First Nations Reserve.

3:31 P.M. – Call of an intoxicated male, yelling and swearing at himself on a street in RMH. He was observed chasing vehicles and gave himself “the finger” when he walked by the complainant’s vehicle. Upon police arrival, he was arrested for breaching a previous release condition.

October 29

1:57 A.M. – Complaint of tires slashed on a vehicle on the Sunchild First Nations Reserve.

8:38 A.M. – Report of a package stolen off the steps at a residence in RMH.

10:50 P.M. – Complaint of an intoxicated male who uninvitingly entered a residence on the Sunchild First Nations Reserve. The suspect then went to another residence where he broke a window. He left the area prior to police arrival. Charges are pending.
