RCMP have laid charges for a crime spree last month in which several vehicles in Sylvan Lake had their windows smashed in.

Sylvan Lake RCMP received the first call reporting damage at 3:31 a.m. on Oct. 10. Throughout the morning, more victims told police that they had vehicle windows smashed out with by appeared to be pellets from a pellet gun.

In total, 12 vehicles had windows smashed, and two other vehicles sustained damage.

The approximate damage estimate of the mischief is $7,000.

An investigation was launched which included reviewing surveillance video, collating intelligence gathered by RCMP at an earlier party, and liaising with Camrose Police Service.

Three youths, and one adult are facing charges as a result of this incident.

Kaelan Klessens, 19, of Lacombe is charged with 14 counts of Mischief Under $5,000. He is scheduled to appear in court on November 25.

“This was a series of senseless acts by four people who knew what they were doing was wrong”, says Staff Sergeant Jeff McBeth of the Sylvan Lake RCMP. “I am glad that those involved have exhibited remorse for their actions. Investigations such as this one take a significant amount of time to put the pieces together and I want to commend the officers who worked diligently to bring this investigation to a successful conclusion for our community.”
