Red Deer now with 34 active COVID-19 cases

Red Deer has 34 active cases of COVID-19 as of Wednesday, a decrease of three over the past 24 hours, according to the latest online update from the province.

Red Deer has added six more recoveries from the virus for a total of 144. The city has now had 178 cases of COVID-19 since the onset of the pandemic, an increase of three from yesterday.

Red Deer County remains with eight active cases, unchanged from Tuesday, while Sylvan Lake has one, also unchanged.

Lacombe County now has six active cases, a decrease of one, and the city of Lacombe held steady with two.

Rocky Mountain House remains with four active cases as of Wednesday. Kneehill County added one active case and now has six. Olds, Mountain View County and the County of Stettler have no active cases of COVID-19.

Ponoka County, which remains under a provincial COVID-19 watch, held steady with 47 active cases. The majority of the county’s cases are in Mackwacis, where schools are closed for a third straight week to help prevent further spread of the virus. According to the Maskwacis Education Schools Commission, no cases have been reported at any of their 11 schools.

The Central Zone now has 160 active cases, five less than Tuesday, and just one hospitalization.

Alberta confirmed another 410 cases on Wednesday out of 10,631 tests completed in the past 24 hours.

The total number of COVID-19 cases across the province sits at 26,565. There are 4,793 active cases, up 55 from Tuesday, and 21,459 recovered cases, up 351.

The province has recorded another death from COVID-19 for a total of 313.
