Central Alberta couple busted for drug trafficking
On Sept. 30, the RCMP Southern Alberta District Crime Reduction Unit (SAD CRU) entered into an investigation into the trafficking of illegal drugs in the town of Linden.
As a result, 38-year-old Mandy Russell was arrested in the village of Rosedale. Police say she was found to be in possession of what is believed to be 5.2 grams of cocaine, 28.8 grams of fentanyl, 20 grams of Crystal meth and 11grams of MDMA (Ecstasy).
Russell has been charged with four counts of trafficking under the CDSA. At the time of her arrest, a warrant had been issued for failing to appear on trafficking charges from another incident. She remains in custody and will next be appearing Friday in Drumheller provincial court.
On the same date, Mandy Russell’s common law partner, 41-year-old Jason Lock of Linden, was arrested in the town of Acme and found in possession of what is believed to be crystal meth and fentanyl. Lock was arrested on an outstanding warrant for failing to appear on charges for possession for the purpose of trafficking from a previous incident, and is facing additional charges of resisting arrest, possession of methamphetamine, and possession of fentanyl.
