RCMP say a store clerk was shot during an early morning robbery Friday at the Bluffton City General Store.

Police were called at about 6:20 a.m. on Oct. 16 about the incident at the store located in the hamlet about 100 kilometres northwest of Red Deer.

After a male suspect failed to pay for his gas and groceries, police say the store clerk confronted him outside and was struck by a shot from what is described as a small-calibre firearm.

The store clerk was taken to hospital and treated for a non-life threatening injury.

Police say the suspect fled southbound in a vehicle described as a smaller grey or silver-coloured sedan with a sunroof.

RCMP say this vehicle is what the suspect used to flee southbound from the Bluffton City General Store on the morning of Oct. 16. (RCMP)

The suspect is described as:

-approximately 5’6″ to 5’10” tall, and slim

-dark skin

-short hair and no facial hair

-wearing a black/blue parka with a fur-trimmed hood, black pants, and black shoes with a white stripe (see above photo)

It’s also believed there was another person with long hair in the passenger seat of the vehicle.
