Red Deer adds five more active COVID-19 cases

After reaching a new record high on Tuesday, Red Deer has added five more active cases of COVID-19 on Wednesday.

Red Deer now has 27 active cases to go along with 110 recoveries as the total number of cases in the city reached 137.

Red Deer County is up to five active cases, while Sylvan Lake has two. The city of Lacombe remains with 10 active cases where as Lacombe County has seven.

Ponoka County remains under a COVID-19 ‘watch’ with 32 active cases.

Elsewhere, the County of Stettler and Mountain View County are each reporting eight active cases, Olds has two, Drayton Valley has one.

The Central zone now has a total of 108 active cases, including three in hospital.

243 cases were confirmed across the province on Wednesday, bringing the total to 21,199. Of those, 2,689 cases are active while 18,223 people have recovered.

Alberta completed 14,881 COVID-19 tests on Tuesday.

One person in the Edmonton Zone died as a result of the virus, meaning it has now claimed the lives of 287 in Alberta.

Provincially, 100 patients are currently hospitalized because of the virus, including 14 in intensive care.
