Rocky RCMP Report Sept. 17-23

This is a report released to the media from the Rocky Mountain House RCMP giving a brief description of various crimes and call-ins, both solved and unsolved throughout the community between the dates of September 17- 23

Not all crimes reported are listed in this report.

September 17

4:55 P.M. – While on patrol on Hwy #11, west of Rocky Mountain House, an RCMP traffic unit member observed a vehicle pulled over on the side of the road with a passenger door open and an individual’s feet hanging out. A query of the licence plate and vehicle revealed that both had been stolen out of the Edmonton area. The two male occupants had to be woken up and were arrested for “Possession of Stolen Property.” One of the individuals had seven outstanding arrest warrants from Rocky Mountain House. Further charges are pending.

6:25 P.M. – Report of an assault which occurred on the O’Chiese First Nations Reserve. Police attended and arrested an individual who was released to appear in ROCKY MOUNTAIN HOUSE Provincial Court at a later date.

September 18

4:19 A.M. – Police attended a residence on the Sunchild First Nation after it was reported that an individual had thrown a bottle through a window and assaulted one of the residents. Charges are pending.

4:53 A.M. – Rocky Mountain House Crime Reduction Unit conducted a traffic stop in Clearwater County & subsequently arrested one of the passengers who refused to identify herself as she had outstanding arrest warrants. Further charges of “Obstruction” and “Breach of Conditions,” have been laid. She was remanded in custody until the following week.

September 19

8:14 A.M. – A stolen blue Ford Superduty was recovered on Arbutus road & Twp Rd 36-4, Clearwater County.

11:31 A.M. – Report of a B&E to a residence in Rocky Mountain House. Access gained through a window. Food items were stolen.

11:33 A.M. – Report of a shoplifter at a Rocky Mountain House business. The female suspect stole some gems and rings which she had put on her fingers before fleeing down the street. After examining video surveillance, police have been able to identify the suspect. Investigation is continuing.

1:08 P.M. – Police received a complaint of an Impaired Driver in Clearwater County. A male driver was located and arrested.

4:50 P.M. – Vehicle reported broken into while parked west of Caroline. Laptops, clothing, and fishing/camping gear were stolen.

6:23 P.M. – Police were requested to assist EMS with an ATV rollover at a camp on SecHwy #591. The injured passenger was transported to the hospital by EMS. The ATV driver was arrested for Impaired Driving and brought to the RCMP detachment where he provided breath samples over the legal limit. Charges are pending.

8:38 P.M. – Police attended a scene in which a vehicle ran the stop sign at the junction of Hwy 22 and Hwy 54 and ended up in the ditch. The driver blew a “Warn” on the Alcohol Screening Device” and was subsequently given a 24 hour driving suspension.

5:30 P.M. – The RHM RCMP Crime Reduction Unit stopped a suspicious vehicle on Twp Rd 38-2, Clearwater County. The driver was arrested for having outstanding arrest warrants. A search revealed Meth, a stolen debit card, and weapons. He was released by a JP after a JIR Hearing and is scheduled to appear in Provincial Court in October. The female passenger was released to appear at a later date as well.

September 20

2:41 A.M. – Call of intoxicated individuals at a residence in Rocky Mountain House, with one person apparently swinging a baseball bat. Police attended and arrested a male who was released when sober.

10:44 A.M. – Call of an assault on the O’Chiese First Nation Reserve. Police attended and arrested a male subject who was held for a JIR Hearing.

12:36 P.M. – Complaint of a Rocky Mountain House resident receiving harassing phone messages via Facebook. Under investigation.

2:56 P.M. – Report of a pickup truck stolen from a hay field in Clearwater County, south of Rocky, while the farmer was working on his tractor. Two days later it was reported abandoned with two flat tires, in Rocky Mountain House.

7:44 P.M. – Report of a wooden gate stolen from a residence on the east side of town.

9:11 P.M. – Report of a B&E at a residence, just outside of town.

September 21

00:48 A.M. – Rocky Mountain House Crime Reduction Unit located an ATV driving in town on the wrong side of the road. The adult male driver fled after spotting the police but lost control, trapping him underneath. The officer freed the individual who received treatment for his injuries by EMS. He was also found in possession of Heroin, Fentanyl and items which had been earlier reported stolen from a Break & Enter call. The quad had been reported stolen August 29 from a residence in town.

2:13 A.M. – Report of a stolen licence plate in Rocky Mountain House.

10:20 A.M. – Report of a garage and school bus broken into at a residence east of town.

10:44 A.M. – Shed reported broken into on a Rocky Mountain House church property. A Stihl weed eater and paint equipment were stolen.

2:38 P.M. – 2003 white SPRINTER RV trailer reported stolen from Strubel Lake, Clearwater County.

4:19 P.M. – B&E reported to unoccupied residence, just west of town.

4:26 P.M. – B&E reported to a show home, southwest of Rocky Mountain House. A window was found damaged.

September 22

8:13 A.M. – Storage trailer broken into while parked in an enclosed compound in the Rocky Mountain House industrial area. A brand new STIHL chainsaw, a STIHL “weed wacker”, and woodworking tools were stolen.

9:56 A.M. – B&E to car shop on the SW side of Rocky Mountain House. Numerous items stolen

12:46 P.M. – B&E reported to residence and outbuildings on Buster Creek Road. Under investigation.

September 23

8:13 A.M. – Call of a male sleeping in the ATM vestibule of a Rocky Mountain House bank. He left prior to police arrival.

8:16 A.M. – Theft of $20,000 worth of logs and standing timber from a location in Clearwater County. Under investigation.
