Drayton Valley RCMP report: September 17 – September 24

September 17

10:15 am – Drayton Valley – 51 Avenue – Complainant reporting someone lit a small fire in a garbage can outside the building. Minor damage to garbage can.

10:26 am – Brazeau County – Complainant reporting male unfit to be driving.

11:41 am – Drayton Valley – 49 Street – Complainant reporting suspicious male and female are walking around the residential area. Members patrolled the area, male and female not located.

11:43 am – Drayton Valley – 48 Street – Complainant reporting a female in distress. Members and EMS attended. Female was fine, had taken some drugs.

12:13 pm – Brazeau County – RR 81 – Complainant reporting they were travelling north on RR 81 when a deer ran from the ditch and collided with the front driver’s side causing damage.

1:07 pm – Brazeau County – Complainant reporting an abandoned RV near the rifle range.

1:19 pm – Drayton Valley – 50 Street – Complainant reporting an unwanted male. Male has been in the bathroom for the past hour. Members attended and located known male who moved along when asked.

3:30 pm – Violet Grove – Complainant reporting a family dispute. Argument became physical.

4:46 pm – Poplar Ridge – 911 hangup. Member attended the location, phone line issue. No emergency.

5:57 pm – Drayton Valley – 50 Street – Complainant reporting animals in distress. Alarm in vehicle keeps going off. Member attended location, vehicle could not be located.

6:27 pm – Brazeau County – Gravel Pits – Complainant reporting a suspicious vehicle in the area. A newer Ford pickup with a white canopy was near some equipment and sped off when workers arrived. This vehicle was observed at 7:30 am.

7:51 pm – Drayton Valley – 47 Avenue – Complainant reporting an assault. Members attended. Incident has to do with tenant smoking and landlord doesn’t want them to.

September 18

5:18 am – Drayton Valley – 49 Street – Complainant reporting a burgundy newer model Chevrolet pickup, diesel keeps revving its engine.

5:45 am – Drayton Valley – 49 Street – Member called out to a complaint of a loud vehicle. Member attended and recognized driver who subsequently took off on member.

9:29 am – Drayton Valley – Power Center Blvd – Complainant reporting a male passed out on the bridge on the walking path. Complainant was concerned for the safety of the male. Member attended and located known male. Male was sleeping not causing any issues.

9:53 am – Drayton Valley – 62 Street – Complainant reporting a truck and trailer with a skid steer backed into the seacan on the site and drove off. Member attended. Company contacted. Matter resolved informally.

10:16 am – Drayton Valley – 47 Street – Complainant requesting a well-being check on individual. Member attended. All fine.

11:58 am – Drayton Valley – 43 Street – Complainant reporting a sled trailer in the field by their property. Trailer stolen out of Fox Creek.

12:49 PM – Drayton Valley – 45 Avenue – Complainant attended the detachment to report a male had made a derogatory remark to them when they passed by at the Omniplex. Not a criminal matter.

1:04 pm – Drayton Valley – Madsen Avenue – Complainant wishing to report a breach of recognizance. Matter is still under investigation.

4:02 pm – Drayton Valley – Greenwood Trailer Court – Complainant called several times in a short period to report a disturbance. Male is yelling at them. Member attended, known issue between the two parties. No offence committed. Ongoing issue.

5:03 pm – Drayton Valley – Industrial Road – Complainant reported their daughter is missing. Members attended known locations as female has no fixed address. Female not located. Female is transient in nature. Investigation still ongoing.

5:25 pm – Brazeau County – Complainant reporting they were driving on RR 80 when a deer exited the ditch and collided with their vehicle.

6:42 pm – Drayton Valley – Madsen Avenue – Complainant reporting someone left a $20 bill in the driver door handle of their vehicle. Complainant doesn’t know where it came from.

7:28 pm – Parkland County – Complainant reporting roommate is acting strange and would like them removed. This is a landlord-tenant issue and complainant needs to go through proper channels to evict.

9:52 pm – Drayton Valley – 41A Avenue – Residential alarm going off. Member attended. Property rep had accidentally set off alarm.

11:08 pm – Drayton Valley – Greenwood Trailer Court – Complainant reporting threats. Third-party reports. Members attended, no evidence of threats being made directly. Members advised they would patrol the area.

September 19

1:38 am – Drayton Valley – Derrick Lounge – Complainant reporting an intoxicated driver. Member attended location, male had walked home, not driver.

3:56 am – Drayton Valley – 50 Street – Complainant reporting a suspicious vehicle entered the property. Complainant stopped them, male was rude and advised they were there to look at vehicles. Member made patrols, vehicle described as a black Altima.

5:45 am – Drayton Valley – Industrial Drive – Complainant reporting a break and enter in progress. Male suspect went through a hole in the fence and is taking things.

1:31 pm – Tomahawk – Complainant reporting cattle on the road. Member attended and located cows in the field. Owner of cows was identified and contacted.

1:44 pm – Drayton Valley – 47 Avenue – Member conducted a traffic stop. Passenger wanted on outstanding warrant. Male arrested and held for hearing. Released for court in Red Deer.

2:20 pm – Brazeau County – Complainant reporting a burned-out vehicle sometime over the past day on a lease site. Member attended and located newer Chevrolet Crew Cab recently stolen.

2:43 pm – Drayton Valley – 50 Street – Complainant reporting an abandoned wagon. Member attended and located 2 large hockey bags and backpacks. Member contacted owners who advised they had thrown a bunch of stuff out at the dump.

2:57 pm – Drayton Valley – 50 Street – Complainant reporting a male is trying to break into the garden center to build a fort. Members attended and located known male. Male arrested and brought back to the detachment to be released when sober.

3:11 pm – Brazeau County – Complainant reporting a suspicious male and female are pulled over on the side of the road in a burgundy caravan. Members not able to attend right away.

4:58 pm – Drayton Valley – 49 Avenue – Complainant reporting brother has taken their vehicle. Member took vehicle information. Vehicle located and returned.

8:04 pm – Rocky Rapids – Complainant reporting a silver car travelling very fast through town.

9:36 pm – Brazeau County – Complainant requesting a wellbeing check. Child custody issue. Ex was supposed to have returned daughter but has not. All parties located, all fine.

September 20

3:49 am – Drayton Valley – Industrial Road – Complainant reporting known female is yelling. Members attended location, female had left.

5:03 am – Drayton Valley – Econorest – Complainant reporting female is bent over in the parking lot. Members attended and located person who disappeared upon arrival.

5:40 am – Brazeau County – RR 95 – Complainant reporting a vehicle fire. White Ford Super Duty on fire. Members attended.

12:57 pm – Drayton Valley – 50 Street – Complainant reporting a male is passed out on the south side of the parking lot. Members attended and located known male who advised he had been napping. He stated that someone stole his shoes at the Econorest. Member provided a courtesy ride and got male a coffee.

1:32 pm – Drayton Valley – 61 Street – Tamper alert on an ankle bracelet received. Members attended and located known male. Appears that they were trying to remove.

4:24 pm – Drayton Valley – 52 Avenue – Complainant reporting an impaired female is walking north on 50 Street. Member made patrols and located known female. Female was coherent.

6:19 pm – Drayton Valley – 50 Avenue – Complainant reporting a male with a bat is walking towards a business. Member attended and located known male. Bat was not being used to intimidate or threaten anyone.

7:56 pm – Drayton Valley – 52 Street – Complainant reporting male with dementia is wandering around. Members attended and located male. Male driven to the hospital where hospital staff took care of them.

11:28 pm – Drayton Valley – Beckett Road – Complainant reporting a family dispute. Male and female are arguing. Members attended, both parties separated.

September 21

8:48 am – Drayton Valley – 42 Ave – Suspicious person – RCMP responded to a complaint of a suspicious person in the area of 42 Ave and 47 St. Male appeared to be hiding in bushes and stashing items. Police spoke with the male. He was employed by the local construction company and had no stolen items.

9:03 am – Drayton Valley – Mitchell Dr – Suspicious vehicle – Complainant called a Ford F-150 had been parked in the area for some time and had a flat tire. There was a note on the vehicle that the owner had hit a deer and would return. Suspected truck had been drifting in the area. Members attended, spoke with owner of the vehicle. He agreed to get the truck.

1:25 pm – Brazeau County – Hwy 39 – Stolen truck – A truck that had been stolen in Drayton Valley’s area was being tracked by GPS. The vehicle was tracked to Rimbey, AB. The suspects fled the vehicle and were not located.

2:21 pm – Drayton Valley – Industrial Rd – Collision – 50th St and Industrial Rd – 2 vehicles collided. One person had minor injuries. Police attended. Vehicles removed from scene. File remains under investigation.

2:26 pm – Brazeau County – Twp Rd 494 – Suspicious Vehicle – Police responded to a complaint of a suspicious vehicle that drove into the ditch. The windows had been smashed out of the vehicle. A passenger had asked the complainant to call the police. Members arrived but the unidentified driver had fled. Vehicle was towed for no insurance. It was not stolen.

6:42 pm – Drayton Valley – 53 St – Police responded to a domestic dispute where there was white paint poured on a truck. Normally, in these circumstances charges would need to be laid regardless of the wishes of the complainant. However, there were no witnesses to the incident, and charges were not laid.

September 22

7:51 am – Brazeau County – RR 80 – 911 complaint of a suspicious male dragging a tire down the road with a black strap. Member attended the area but could not locate the male, tire nor the strap. There were no other vehicles in the area.

8:25 am – Brazeau County – Hwy 22 – Driver called police as a calf had escaped the fence and was dangerously close to the highway. Momma cow was not happy with the calf and was yelling for quite a while. The owner and members guided the calf back to the pasture.

10:34 am – Brazeau County – RR 73 – A report of a male sleeping in a field along the ring road. He had a bike and looked suspicious. Members attended but the male was gone. Police would later learn the identity of the male. He is familiar to police and he is not a threat to the public.

11:17 am – Brazeau County – Hwy 22 – Drayton Valley RCMP responded to a complaint of a stolen vehicle parked in the middle of a field near the golf course. Police attended the location and towed the stolen vehicle. Several other vehicles were checked on the property and a trailer was also removed. No charges have been laid and the file is still under investigation.

4:07 pm – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Unwanted Person – Members responded to a complaint of a homeless person loitering outside one of the hotels. RCMP responded and found male. He was cooperative to police and agreed to leave the area. He was not identified as a homeless person of Drayton Valley

8:34 pm – Brazeau County – Vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed was stopped by Alberta Sheriffs near the North Saskatchewan Bridge. Vehicle turned out to be stolen. RCMP assisted and arrested the driver, Ashton Cardinal, for possession of stolen property. Cardinal was held for court.

9:44 pm – Brazeau County – Country Style Trailer Court – Reports of fireworks being fired late at night in the park. Members attended but there were no fireworks being shot. Members stayed in the area but it was all quiet.

September 23

9:19 am – Drayton Valley – 53 Street – 911 hangup received. Member attended, accidentally called 911, no emergency.

12:50 pm – Drayton Valley – 52 Avenue – Complainant reporting they found 3 tank gauges laying in the ditch.

1:27 pm – Brazeau County – RR 73 – Complainant reporting a suspicious male laying on the grass. Member attended and locate male who was sleeping on grass. No problems.

2:09 pm – Lodgepole – Complainant reporting neighbour is burning copper wire.

2:30 pm – Drayton Valley – Complainant reporting an abandoned tent trailer at a lease site off Elk River Road. Member attended and contacted the Registered Owner who advised they had some mechanical problems with the trailer and locked it to a tank so it wouldn’t get stolen.

2:55 pm – Drayton Valley – Complainant reporting their licence plate was stolen off their 2003 white Sonoma truck.

3:06 pm – Drayton Valley – Rotary House – Complainant reporting a suspicious male near the skate park. Male is riding a yellow bike and carrying a black bar. Member attended and located known male. No offence.

3:35 pm – Drayton Valley – Peace park – Complainant reporting a young 2-year-old male is wandering around the park. Member attended. Boy had been reunited with parent. Boy had slipped out without parents knowledge.

8:21 pm – Drayton Valley – 52 Avenue – Complainant reporting female is yelling out in front of insurance agency. Members attended, female had left. Patrols in area made, female not located.

9:08 pm – Drayton Valley – Industrial road – Complainant reporting a renter of one of the units has blocked the sensor on the gate to keep it open. Members attended and spoke with known female and asked to refrain from unloading her items near the sensor.

9:15 pm – Drayton Valley – 44 Avenue – Complainant reporting a disturbance. Neighbour is slamming doors and yelling. Members attended and spoke with the person who admitted to slamming the door.

September 24

12:10 am – Drayton Valley 20 Avenue – Members on patrol conducted a traffic stop. Passenger is on a 24-hour curfew and was arrested.

2:32 am – Drayton Valley – IVANTO Park – Complainant was reported missing by cousin in Vancouver. Complainant was intoxicated. Members conducted patrols and located cousin. Not missing.
