investigation turns up nothing

Explosion reported north of Rocky remains a mystery

The source of an explosion that had ears ringing north of Rocky Mountain House late last week remains a mystery.

It was last Thursday at around 2 p.m. when Clearwater Regional Fire Rescue Services received calls about the loud noise.

Residents took to social media explaining that it was so loud that it shook their windows.

Some reported hearing it nearly 10 kilometres away from where the initial call had been made.

When the CRFRS arrived on scene they were unable find any indication of an explosion and said further investigating was needed.

They searched by vehicle for some time and even deployed drones in the area but could not find anything.

Given the nature of the call they turned the investigation over to the RCMP.

However, Corporal Laurel Scott with Alberta RCMP media relations says they too were unable to find any signs that an explosion had taken place.
