Red Deer down to 8 active COVID-19 cases

Alberta is reporting an additional 171 cases of COVID-19 on Wednesday to push the overall total to since the onset of the pandemic to 16,128.

The province completed 12,540 tests for the virus over the past 24 hours.

Active cases in Alberta have risen by four to 1,495.

There are currently 38 Albertans in hospital because of the virus, a decrease of one, including six who are intensive care.

No new deaths related to the virus are being reported for the second straight day, leaving Alberta’s total at 254.

Active cases in the Central Zone are down by four to 42, while recoveries are up by five to 610. There are no hospitalizations or current COVID-19 outbreaks in the zone.

The number of active cases in Red Deer is down to eight, one less than Tuesday, while recoveries in the city are up to 95.

Sylvan Lake remains with one active case, Lacombe County is down to three (decrease of one), Ponoka County remains with two active cases while Sundre has dropped its lone active case. There are no other active cases in the Red Deer area as of Wednesday’s update.
