Round-Em Up

Red Deer RCMP arrest 55 people over week long warrant round up

A week long warrant round up by Red Deer RCMP has resulted in the arrest of 55 people and the clearing of 197 outstanding charges following the execution of 130 search warrants last month.

Between August 25 and 28, members of the Red Deer RCMP Crime Reduction Team (CRT) targeted offenders with outstanding warrants, many repeat or prolific offenders of property and drug offences.

“The warrant round-up is a valuable component of our crime reduction toolkit. We often apprehend repeat offenders with numerous outstanding warrants,” says Corporal Matthew Strader. “While some warrants can be for minor things, others can be quite serious. For example, we apprehended an individual who had a warrant for assaulting on a Peace Officer.”

Regardless of the charges, Red Deer RCMP want to encourage those with outstanding warrants to come to the downtown detachment to deal with their warrants in a proactive manner.
