Signs cause confusion over speed reduction in Creekside
There was some confusion on Tuesday (Sept. 1) when the Town of Rocky Mountain House put up a new sign at the entrance to the Creekside, stating that the speed limit would be reduced from 50 km/h to 40 km/h, while only metres away was another speed sign recently erected declaring it was 30 km/h.
The 30 km/h signs were placed by Pidherney’s Inc. which had been contracted to put in the new 54 Street extension that would add a second entrance into Creekside. Those signs are to show their haul route for construction work and have since been taken away due to the confusion and were merely coincidence as to the timing.
It was on August 4 that town council approved a six-month pilot project reducing the speed to 40 km/h in the subdivision.
The new speed change was put into place to help with safety of children, pedestrians, concerns from residents, and the fact that lower speed limits result in less serious injuries.
