Rocky plants trees honouring town councillors

Three new trees have been planted in Rocky Mountain House in recognition of prior elected officials’ service to their community.

A brief Tree Dedication ceremony was held on Tuesday, Sept. 1.

The Town implemented a Council Recognition Tree program in 2012 to recognize councillors and board members at the end of their terms.

“It is an honourable thing to run for public office and serve in local government. All three former councillors being recognized today served out community for 10 years each: a noteworthy achievement,” said Mayor Tammy Burke. “I’d also like to acknowledge two other previous councillors whose terms ended in 2017: Randall Sugden, for four years on council, and Manfred Ullman for seven years.”
