Coronavirus cases in Central Zone down slightly

Alberta is reporting 258 new cases of COVID-19 over the past three days and four more deaths.

This brings the total number of coronavirus cases identified in the province so far to 13,006 including 1,172 that are currently active – up 28 from figures released on Friday.

The total number of deaths now stands at 234.

Total cases increased by 83 on Aug. 21, 106 on Aug. 22 and 69 on Aug. 23.

The number of Albertans hospitalized by COVID-19 is now 45, including nine in ICU, while 11,600 have recovered.

There are 26 active cases of COVID-19 in the Central Zone – down four from Friday and now 536 recovered. Two people are in hospital with the virus, while the death toll remains at seven.

According to health officials, an outbreak remains in place at Red Deer Regional Hospital.

There are eight active cases in the City of Red Deer – steady from Friday and 68 recovered.

Elsewhere, Red Deer County has one active case, Lacombe County has four, Mountain View County has one, Kneehill County has no active cases, and the County of Stettler has one.

Elsewhere, there are 631 active COVID cases in the Edmonton Zone – down 45 from Friday’s update, 356 cases in the Calgary Zone – up 60, 133 active cases in the North Zone – up 23, 20 active cases in the South Zone – down eight, and six other active cases in unconfirmed locations.
