To honour the life and work of Dr. Walter Reynolds, who was killed on Monday, August 10, the Red Deer Primary Care Network is organizing a candlelight vigil.

The vigil takes place tonight, Friday, August 14, at City Hall Park starting at 7 p.m.

“The girls and I would like to thank the community for their outpouring of support for our great loss. We ask for privacy during this tragic time,” Anelia Reynolds, Dr. Reynolds’ wife, says in a statement.

In memory of Dr. Reynolds, physicians will be wearing white, such as a lab coat, and the public are encouraged to wear blue and green ribbons.

Attendees are asked to bring an LED candle or download a candle apps for mobile devices from Apple or Android.

Attendees are asked to please wear a mask. If you don’t have a mask, some will be available on-site.

Speakers at tonight’s vigil will include family, friends, patients and colleagues of Dr. Reynolds, representatives with the Alberta Medical Association and the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta, and Mayor Tara Veer.
