Police fired at while pursuing suspects from Sylvan Lake to Erskine
Two men are in custody following a dynamic incident that saw multiple police pursuits and shots fired at a police truck.
The incident started just after 11 p.m. on Wednesday when Sylvan Lake RCMP were advised by Calgary Police Service that a stolen vehicle was in their area. The vehicle sped through the Lacombe area and was later located by Blackfalds RCMP. When it failed to stop for police, a pursuit was initiated, but terminated shortly thereafter.
Police say the vehicle was again located and a tire deflation device was deployed. The vehicle entered a rural property east of Lacombe where the occupants abandoned it and stole another truck that was on the property before fleeing.
Another police pursuit was initiated during which a Police Dog Services truck was struck by shots believed to have been fired by the suspects in the stolen truck. No one was injured.
