Leduc and District Victim Services partners with Breton and Devon RCMP for monthly visits

The Breton and Devon RCMP detachments will soon host victim services each month.

Starting in September, the Leduc and District Victim Services will be working out of the Breton RCMP and Devon RCMP detachments monthly.

Victim services will be at the Devon detachment on the second Tuesday of each month from 9 am to 1 pm, and at the Breton detachment every second and fourth Wednesday of the month between 9:45 am and 3:30 pm.

Police say the partnership with Victim Services will support victims of crime and bring more awareness of the services to the communities.

“Victim Services is an integral part of policing. When police are dealing with the legal side, Victim Services provides the soft touch, the human side while assisting victims through a variety of processes”, says Constable Cheri-Lee Smith.

Stephanie Ricci, Executive Director with Leduc & District Victim Services, echoed that statement.

“Once police provide us with a victim referral, we provide them with services such as victim impact statements, financial benefits, restitution, and other resources that may benefit the victim such as counseling.”

Victims Services work alongside the RCMP in the Devon and Breton Detachments and they start working to provide support as soon as the victim is referred.
