Drayton Valley RCMP report: August 5 – August 13

August 5

5:20 pm – Drayton Valley – Information received regarding a historical serious incident. Under investigation.

6:16 pm – Drayton Valley – 50 Ave – Complainant reported receiving harassing and threatening texts from a male. Members were aware that the male was currently in an institution receiving treatment. Members contacted the institution and requested the male’s phone be taken away for the time being.

9:04 pm – Drayton Valley – 52 St – Complainant reported capturing a known male stealing 3 bags of recycling from his yard. Complainant does not want this person on his property. Under investigation.

11:41 pm – Drayton Valley – 52 Ave – Complainant reported a possible impaired driver. A known male had left the bar in a red truck, had been drinking. Patrols didn’t locate the truck or male driver.

August 6

10:34 am – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Complainant reported following a vehicle with a possible impaired driver. Member located the vehicle and driver and determined the issue was fatigue. Driver warned, stated he was going to rest before continuing. Duplicate complaint also received.

11:04 am – Drayton Valley – Beckett Rd – Complainant reported his wallet stolen from his truck, card used a couple times prior to complainant cancelling it. Under investigation.

11:21 am – Drayton Valley – 49 St – Suspicious female walking. Member attended and was able to identify the female prior to her making the great escape. Female wasn’t relocated but was not committing any known offence.

2:38 pm – Drayton Valley – 51 St – Complainant reported a suspicious vehicle parked for a couple of hours. Member attended and determined there was a legitimate reason for it being there, but that it was also lacking a licence plate, insurance, and a front bumper. Vehicle was towed to prevent continuation.

3:08 pm – Brazeau County – Bear Lake area – Complainant reported a truck abandoned, possibly stolen, left on a lease site. Member attended and determined the truck wasn’t stolen. Under investigation to speak to owner.

3:29 pm – Drayton Valley – Walmart – Complainant reported a dog in a grey Chevy van, windows only down a bit. Member responded but van had left while en route.

4:24 pm – Brazeau County – Berrymoor area – Complainant reported being harassed by a male and female who are suspected of sending threatening and rude texts for months, using an app that shows fake numbers. Under investigation.

7:48 pm – Drayton Valley – Domestic incident reported, still under investigation.

8:32 pm – Drayton Valley – Jubilee Ave – Complainant reported an unwanted female was on business property and changing beside a dumpster. Member attended, female was packing up her things on a bike. The female left without incident when asked.

10:26 pm – Tomahawk – Hwy 759 – Hangup 911 call, female requested police, GPS coordinates provided. Members attended, no one found in the area, nearby residences were checked, no emergency found. Phone number out of service.

11:27 pm – Drayton Valley – 46 Ave – Complainant reported a male making threats in relation to recovering furniture (getting it back, not re-upholstering it). Investigated, all parties spoken to and advice provided. Police unable to intervene in ownership of furniture.

August 7

12:38 am – Drayton Valley – 55 Ave – Complainant reported a male trying to break into mailboxes, who she scared off. Member attended, under investigation.

2:54 am – Brazeau County – Powerhouse Road – Members responded to a commercial intrusion alarm. Location checked, no one found. Members left once an employee had secured the location.

3:49 am – Drayton Valley – 44 St – Complainant reported a possible single gunshot. Member attended and checked the area, nothing found.

7:12 am – Rocky Rapids – Complainant reported his blue 2005 Chevy pickup stolen overnight. Under investigation.

10:53 am – Hwy 22 – Reports of a female on the side of the highway near Hwy 621. Police attended, female was trying to get to Mayerthorpe and was provided a courtesy ride to the detachment boundary.

11:41 am – Drayton Valley – Report of fraud, indicating cheques were mailed to the wrong address and deposited by someone else.

12:38 pm – Drayton Valley – 51 Avenue – Report of a single-vehicle collision striking a wall. No injuries.

1:08 pm – Brazeau County – RR 83 – Report of a burnt-out pickup truck. Members attended but could not locate the vehicle.

3:18 pm – Drayton Valley – Report of harassing communications. Investigation complete and determined no offence took place.

3:30 pm – Yellowhead County – Police were called to assist Yellowhead County Fire Department with a structure fire. Employees had already extinguished the fire before fire/police arrived. Investigation determined fire was not suspicious.

5:17 pm – Drayton Valley – 52 Avenue – 911 hang up from someone asking for police. Police arrived and determined there were two people in the lobby causing a disturbance but decided it was best to leave when staff called 911.

7:59 pm – Drayton Valley – Custody dispute advising the other party was not complying with the agreed modifications to the custody order; however, the custody order stated it was the other party’s turn. Police advised the complainant to follow the order in order to prevent frustrations in the future.

8:26 pm – Drayton Valley – Industrial Road – Numerous vehicles reported at the Econorest and thought to be suspicious. When police arrived, no vehicles were still there.

8:40 pm – Drayton Valley – 50 Street – Theft of a bicycle. Matte back specialized P3 Mountain Bike with red pedals, chrome handlebars, fixed speed, aftermarket rock shocks, Kenda tires. Suspect appeared to be Caucasian male, wearing a dark baseball hat.

9:04 pm – Drayton Valley – 43 Street – Report of someone breaking into the mailboxes near Frank Maddock. Police attended, the male actually worked for Canada Post and was repairing the mailboxes.

9:46 pm – Brazeau County – Hwy 22 – Complaint that someone is running on the highway. Police attended and located the person who was getting a boost for their vehicle and was on their way back to town.

11:42 pm – Drayton Valley – Power Centre Blvd – Complaint of a person driving who stated they had no brakes. Police located the driver and vehicle parked near Ford, stated they would stay with the vehicle until it could get looked at in the morning.

August 8

8:09 am – Parkland County – RR 64 – Report of an abandoned travel trailer. Police contacted the owner and determined the trailer to be stolen. The trailer was towed for a forensic examination.

10:52 am – Drayton Valley – 48 Avenue – Police were called to information on a custody concern. Advised to attend the courthouse for information on how to proceed.

11:09 am – Drayton Valley – Report that someone was posting screenshots of a private conversation on Facebook.

5:56 pm – Drayton Valley – Information received that a stolen vehicle from Edmonton is in Drayton Valley and someone was trying to extort money from the victim in Edmonton for its location. This is a common scam when information is posted on social media in an attempt to locate someone’s property.

10:00 pm – Drayton Valley – Lion’s Park – Report of quad’s driving in the area. Police were already on scene and had observed someone start a quad in the back of a truck, but was never actually driven in the area.

August 9

1:12 am – Drayton Valley – 49 Street – Noise complaint, police attended and located the residence causing the issues. Warned to turn it down and close the door to minimize noise levels.

8:34 am – Drayton Valley – 50 Avenue – Complainant reporting a break and enter overnight. Entry made by kicking in an overhead door panel then forcing the office door open. Till drawer taken but no money.

9:44 am – Drayton Valley – Complainant reporting suspicious vehicle. Red Dodge pickup truck has been circling for past 90 minutes. 1 female and two males. Members attended and located vehicle. Driver issued 30-day suspension for impaired operation, vehicle towed for 7 days.

11:43 am – Drayton Valley – 20 Avenue – Complainant reporting they found a wallet in the parking lot. Wallet returned to owner.

1:25 pm – Brazeau County – Hwy 22 – Complainant reporting they lost their wallet. Complainant attended the detachment. Wallet had been turned in recently. Wallet returned to owner.

1:33 pm – Drayton Valley – Complainant reporting harassing online communications. Had got into an online altercation with another person who is now harassing them.

4:28 pm – Drayton Valley – 55 Street – Complainant reporting a female was punched in the face. Member attended and located the complainant and the victim. Victim was experiencing paranoid episode. EMS transported to hospital. Complainant was not cooperative with any details or information.

6:24 pm – Tomahawk area – Complainant reporting a male lying in the ditch approximately 10 feet away from a motorbike. Members attended, EMS dispatched and cancelled. Male was having a nap. Male was intoxicated and identified. Male arrested on outstanding warrants from Grande Prairie. Motorbike towed, violation ticket for no insurance issued.

8:18 pm – Brazeau County – Complainant reporting a burned-out vehicle. Chevrolet Silverado 2 door extended cab. Member attended, vehicle stolen from Rocky Rapids on August 7th.

8:31 pm – Drayton Valley – 50 Avenue – Members dispatched to an accident. One vehicle went through a red light and hit the other.

9:12 pm – Brazeau County – RR 64 – Complainant reporting cow on the road. Member attended and herded the cow back into the property.

9:54 pm – Drayton Valley – 52 Street – Members were called to an unknown situation. Individual is inside their apartment and refusing to let tenant in. No contact order in place. Members attended, male arrested for public intoxication.

22:38 pm – Drayton Valley – 50 Avenue – Complainant reporting they located their recently reported stolen bike at the Coach Motel.

10:49 pm – Drayton Valley – 41 Avenue – 911 open line, only static heard. Ongoing issue.

August 10

6:11 am – Drayton Valley – 43 Avenue – Complainant reporting a break and enter to shed overnight. Lock has been broken off, nothing taken however, three duffle bags containing tools left behind.

7:23 am – Drayton Valley – 43 Avenue – Complainant reporting break and enter to garage overnight. Access gained by kicking inside man door. Power tools, stereo, and laptop taken.

8:19 am – Brazeau County – Complainant reporting an abandoned Black Chevrolet Silverado is burnt. Members attended, vehicle had previously been reported stolen.

8:54 am – Drayton Valley – 63 Street – Complainant reporting quad stolen. Green 2012 Arctic Cat 550 was stolen from the back of their pick up truck while parked.

9:20 am – Drayton Valley – 53 Avenue – Complainant reporting a disturbance. Male is attempting to gain entry to apartment. Members attended, male is living in the apartment and had left earlier that day. All his belongings are in the apartment. Female does not want him there anymore.

9:53 am – Brazeau County – RR 91 – Complainant reporting a possible attempted break and enter to residence. Neighbours property had their lock and chain on the gate cut. Members attended. Owner notified.

10:25 am – Brazeau County – RR 80 – Complainant reporting damage to trees and fence on property. Appears that someone drove into them.

11:27 am – Brazeau County – RR 73 – Complainant attended the detachment to request members assist with removal of female from property. Member advised that this is a civil matter as both parties live in the residence.

12:01 pm – Parkland County – Hwy 759 – Complainant reporting a harassing phone call coming from a landline with an area code of 902. Investigation revealed that person resides in Nova Scotia. Member contacted the local police to have them attend residence where calls are originating from. History shows several calls being made from number. Caller is known to suffer from Mental health issues.

12:29 pm – Drayton Valley – 51 Street – Complainant reporting someone broke into their Business during the night. No damage to the door, radio/cd player is missing.

3:08 pm – Drayton Valley – Hwy 22 – Complainant reporting a blue Dodge SUV was speeding then turned into Drayton Valley where they went through a red light.

4:58 pm – Brazeau Dam – Complainant reporting that someone went through their campsite while they were gone. Tent had been taken down, several items stolen.

5:21 pm – Drayton Valley – Complainant reporting they spotted their stolen mountain bike. Male was seen riding it towards the Burger Baron.

5:36 pm – Drayton Valley – 41 Avenue – Abandoned call from Telus tower site. Nothing said, just static. Ongoing issue.

6:00 pm – Drayton Valley – 47 Street – Complainant reporting a suspicious vehicle. Grey or gold Chevrolet truck keeps coming and parking on the street. Member patrolled the area, vehicle located no occupants.

8:22 pm – Brazeau County – Poplar Ridge Store – Complainant reporting an intoxicated and dangerous driver in a small white car. Vehicle is doing donuts in the parking lot near the playground. Driver is a female. Members attended and located vehicle parked in a private laneway. Driver advised to park the vehicle.

10:00 pm – Drayton Valley – 34 Avenue – Complainant reporting a suspicious vehicle. Brown car with 2 to 3 occupants is driving back and forth for the past 20 minutes. They appear to be eyeing up a woodchipper. Members attended and located the vehicle. Driver was dropping off food for father.

11:37 pm – Drayton Valley – 54 Avenue – Complainant reporting a suspicious vehicle parked behind seniors home. Vehicle has been parked there for over 2 hours. Members attended and conducted a traffic stop. Driver advised they are with the construction job.

August 11

7:36 am – Brazeau County – Request to assist fire department with structure fire. Member attended.

9:56 am – Drayton Valley – Wal Mart – Complainant reporting their vehicle struck while parked. Vehicle is a white 2014 Jeep Patriot. Damage to the passenger front door.

9:22 am – Drayton Valley – 52 Street – Complainant reporting suspicious people living in a van at Centre Court Trailer Court. Vehicle is a green minivan. Members attended and spoke with individual at property who advised it is their friend that owns the van.

10:57 am – Drayton Valley – 50 Street – Numerous calls received regarding a suspicious male standing in the middle of the road, not wearing a shirt and refusing to move. Member attended and located known male. Male arrested on breaching conditions and resisting arrest, held for a hearing.

11:19 am – Drayton Valley – Complainant reporting they received an indecent photo on their Instagram account. Matter is still under investigation.

12:25 pm – Violet Grove – Residential alarm received. Homeowner advised that the alarm had gone off twice. They checked the first time and everything was secure. The second time members were notified and attended. Place was secure.

1:23 pm – Drayton Valley – 54 Avenue – Complainant reporting an abandoned bicycle behind lavender lane in the back alley.

2:58 pm – Drayton Valley – Wal Mart – Complainant reporting a wallet stolen from their unlocked van. All cards have been cancelled.

3:35 pm – Brazeau County – RR 81 – Complainant reporting people trespassing on their property. Road has washed out and now people who are wishing to camp on the crown land are using their property to gain access. Member contacted Brazeau County CPO who met with landowner.

4:51 pm – Drayton Valley – Members were called to locate a vehicle with a possible suicidal male. Members located the vehicle and male.

8:09 pm – Parkland County – RR 81 – Complainant reporting a suspicious vehicle in the neighbourhood. Vehicle described as a white and blue older Chevrolet. Has been observed driving around the last few days.

August 12

1:51 am – Parkland County – Hwy 759 – Member responded to a vehicle fire. Vehicle was a 1997 Nissan Pathfinder.

2:02 AM – Drayton Valley – 46 Street – 911 call received from female who advised that they needed the police right away. Members made patrols in the area, female not located.

8:13 am – Drayton Valley – 53 Avenue – Complainant reporting an unwanted male causing a disturbance. Members attended and located known male and known female. Male was there to gather his belongings. No disturbance. Landlord-Tenant dispute.

8:19 am – Tomahawk area – Complainant calling to report damage to their canola field the previous evening. Complainant stated that they had confronted driver. Male charged with mischief.

9:56 am – Brazeau Dam – Request to assist Rocky Mountain House in locating scene of a single-vehicle accident near the Dam. Members attended location and located vehicle on the side. Vehicle had been stolen from Tomahawk.

11:52 am – Drayton Valley – 51 Avenue – Complainant reporting they feel unsafe due to possible threats associated with an incident that occurred in 2014. Matter under investigation.

12:09 pm – Tomahawk – Complainant reporting an elderly confused male had stopped at the gas station. Male had left prior to arrival of members. Members were able to locate male and took male to hospital for assessment. Male had been driving around confused for past two days.

12:33 pm – Drayton Valley – Complainant reporting theft of licence plate.

2:06 pm – Brazeau County – Hwy 621 – Complainant reporting an erratic driver in a dark grey SUV swerving in and out of traffic.

3:07 pm – Drayton Valley – Complainant called to advise that they were supposed to move to Drayton Valley and found a house and sent the landlord $2000 for a damage deposit. Complainant then decided they were not moving and requested their money back. The landlord refused. Verbal agreement only, no papers signed. Civil matter which needs to be dealt with in small claims court.

4:48 pm – Drayton Valley – 53 Avenue – Complainant advising that they arrived home to find a note stuck to the door from the shelter advising their dog had been removed from the yard. Member spoke with animal control who advised the dog had been found wandering around.

5:17 pm – Drayton Valley – Complainant advising that there are people using drugs in a car.

7:37 pm – Brazeau County – RR 73 – Complainant attended the detachment to report a previous assault by ex. Complainant would like them removed. Member attended, one person arrested for assault.

10:45 pm – Drayton Valley – Omniplex – Complainant reporting a breach of no contact. Member could not locate any no-contact order. No charges.

11:41 pm – Brazeau County – RR 71 – Complainant reporting they are at the gravel pits and they are being blocked in. Member located vehicle and complainant who said they were able to leave.

August 13

3:39 am – Drayton Valley – 50 Avenue – Commercial alarm received. Members attended. Break-in glass to small window in door. Building cleared. Matter is still under investigation.

5:07 am – Drayton Valley – Industrial Road – Commercial alarm. Member attended, break and enter to rear door, damage to door.
