Slight drop in active COVID-19 cases in Central Zone, one new death

There are 76 news cases of COVID-19 being reported in Alberta today, including three more deaths.

According to Alberta Health, that brings the total number of coronavirus cases identified in the province to 11,969 with the death toll in Alberta rising to 220.

The number of active cases, however, has dropped slightly from 1,044 on Tuesday to 1,036.

Recoveries now total 10,713 with 50 Albertans currently in hospital, including 12 in ICU.

The number of Albertans tested for the virus is 647,281 while the number of tests conducted is 793,114. Alberta conducted 7,746 COVID-19 tests on Aug. 12.

In the Central Zone there are 88 active cases, down from 92 in yesterday’s report. However, one additional death has also been reported, bringing that total to six.

The number of active cases in Red Deer remains at 10, along with 57 recoveries to date.

Sylvan Lake: 0 active, 9 recovered

Rocky Mountain House: 0 active, 3 recovered

Innisfail: 2 active, 3 recovered

County of Stettler: 6 active, 38 recovered

Lacombe: 2 active, 3 recovered

Lacombe County: 4 active, 14 recovered

Ponoka: 0 active, 7 recovered

Ponoka County: 1 active, 11 recovered

Olds: 0 active, 5 recovered

Didsbury: 1 active, 6 recovered

Mountain View County: 1 active, 7 recovered

The Edmonton Zone is currently reporting the highest number of active cases of COVID-19 with 475, up from 470 the day before.

Calgary Zone has 314 active cases, up from 312. The North Zone is reporting 104 active cases, down from 111. South Zone with 52 active cases, down from 55, and three additional active cases of COVID-19 in unconfirmed locations throughout the province, down from four the day before.
