UPDATE: Arrest made in fatal hit and run crash north of Red Deer

Red Deer RCMP say tips from the public have led to an arrest in relation to a hit and run collision north of the city that claimed the life of a male pedestrian.

The collision happened late Sunday afternoon along Highway 2A near the rail crossing between Red Deer and Blackfalds.

After releasing an initial description of the vehicle believed to be involved in the crash, RCMP sent out an updated description and photos of the vehicle Tuesday afternoon.

Red Deer RCMP announced Wednesday morning they have now made an arrest and that additional information will be released later this week.

“Red Deer RCMP thank the public for their assistance in identifying the vehicle and driver in question,” reads a media release.
