Aug 7, 2020 | 4:24 PM

RCMP in Rocky Mountain House are commending community members and local organizations that helped in the search for a missing teen with delayed cognitive abilities on Thursday.

On Aug. 6, Mounties collaborated with several other agencies, including; Rocky Mountain House Search and Rescue, Nordegg Search and Rescue, Alberta Forestry and Agriculture, Clearwater Fire Department and Alstrom Air to locate the missing teen.

At 8:45 a.m. police responded to a missing person complaint at a campground near Crescent Falls. A 17-year-old youth was lost, believed to have wandered into the woods. RCMP note the teen had been missing for over an hour prior to the call for assistance and his family was very worried.

At 12:30 p.m., Search and Rescue members located the teen approximately four kilometres away from the campsite. Alstrom Air voluntarily provided support by flying the teen, in one of their helicopters, back to the staging area where he was happily reunited with his family.
