Active COVID cases increase in Central Zone

Alberta is reporting 134 new cases of COVID-19 on Aug. 7, including three more deaths.

The total number of cases identified in the province so far, now stands at 11,430 while the death toll increases to 208. Recoveries have increased to 10,097.

However, the number of active cases of coronavirus as of Thursday (reported Friday) is now 1,125, an increase of 18 from Thursday’s reported numbers.

Those in hospital with COVID-19 now number 68, with 18 in ICU. The number of Albertans tested is 613,221 with 743,885 tests completed.

In Central Zone, the number of active COVID cases is now 224, up from 186 reported a day ago.

Red Deer is reporting 12 active cases, up from 10, while 50 have recovered. Outbreaks are still in place at Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre and Waskasoo Kiwanis Towers supportive living facility. They have three and two active cases, respectively.

  • Red Deer County: 4 active, 21 recovered.
  • Sylvan Lake: 2 active, 7 recovered.
  • Innisfail: 2 active, 2 recovered.
  • Lacombe: 1 active, 3 recovered.
  • Lacombe County: 5 active, 13 recovered.
  • Ponoka: 0 active, 7 recovered.
  • Ponoka County: 1 active, 11 recovered.
  • Olds: 0 active, 5 recovered.
  • Didsbury: 1 active, 6 recovered.
  • Mountain View County: 1 active, 7 recovered.
  • Rocky Mountain House: 0 active, 3 recovered.
  • Sundre: 0 active, 1 recovered.
  • Clearwater County: 0 active, 3 recovered.
  • Stettler and County: 5 active, 37 recovered.
  • Three Hills/Hwy 21: 3 active, 19 recovered.
  • Kneehill County: 4 active, 14 recovered & 1 death.

Across the province, the Calgary Zone is reporting 368 active cases of coronavirus, 329 in the Edmonton Zone, 111 in the North Zone, 90 in the South Zone, and three additional active cases in unconfirmed locations throughout Alberta.
