Inmate dies at Bowden Institution

Officials with Correctional Service Canada (CSC) have announced the death of an inmate at the Bowden Institution.

On Aug. 6, officials say 26-year-old Logan Mitchell died while in custody at the prison.

At the time of his death, Mitchell had been serving a sentence of three years, one month and 23 days for possession of schedule I/II substance for purpose of trafficking, and two counts of fail to comply with conditions of undertaking/recognizance since Nov. 22, 2019.

CSC officials say Mitchell’s next of kin have been notified of his death.

As in all cases involving the death of an inmate, Correctional Service Canada will review the circumstances. CSC policy requires that police and the coroner be notified.
