Drayton Valley RCMP Weekly Report: July 30-August 5

July 30

9:00 a.m. – Brazeau County – Report of threats uttered over Facebook. The complainant only wanted the other party spoken to.

10:33 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 52 Street – Shed broken into overnight. Recycling and a red BMX with pink rims and no handlebars was stolen.

12:18 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 Street – Police were called to a welfare check of a senior that was confused as to where they were. Police provided a ride home.

1:31 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Report of a domestic related break and enter and assault that occurred the night prior. A warrant has been sought.

2:28 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 52 Street – Report of threats uttered in relation to a complaint from the previous day. The complainant was belligerent and not cooperative with providing any details to police.

5:07 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 52 Street – Report of a male seen with something believe to be a firearm. Police attended and located the suspect, he did not have a firearm, the area around was searched but nothing was found.

6:44 p.m. – Drayton Valley – McKenzie Avenue – Report of possible harassment as an article was left on the complainant’s step. Police attended, it was later determined that some kids had been playing and it was nothing malicious.

8:30 p.m. – Brazeau County – Violet Grove – Report of suspicious activity. Police attended and spoke with parties involved, unable to determine if any criminal activity had occurred.

July 31

1:04 a.m. – Drayton Valley – Madsen Avenue – Report of a possibly intoxicated driver leaving the hospital. Members made patrols, the vehicle was not located.

5:00 a.m. – Brazeau County – Hwy 39 – Complaint of a motorcycle travelling at extremely high speeds. Patrols made, a motorcycle was located at a gas station in Drayton Valley but the complainant could not say if it was the same or not. Verbal warning given.

9:48 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 46 Avenue – Complaint of trespassing, police attended and located a suspect matching the description walking down the road. Warning given for trespassing.

11:57 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 53 Avenue – Report of theft from a vehicle. Unlocked vehicle was entered and a backpack was stolen. The backpack was recovered nearby and nothing else appeared to be taken.

1:05 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 Street – Report that a possible homeless person had entered a storage unit and left behind drug paraphernalia. Members disposed of the paraphernalia and made patrols for a suspect, none were found.

6:22 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 Street – Report that a customer made inappropriate comments to an employee. Police attempted to locate the vehicle the customer was in without success.

6:46 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 56 Street – Complaint that two people were assaulting another person. Police attended where one suspect was seen going, but they denied any involvement. Police could not locate the victim to determine what happened.

7:47 p.m. – Brazeau County – Report of a domestic incident. A male was arrested and released for court.

10:50 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 Avenue – Report of a break and enter, unknown person seen running away from a business and could hear the alarm. Police attended, no alarm could be heard. The property representative attended and advised nothing appeared to be broken into or stolen.

August 1

12:35 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 54 Street – Noise complaint, police attended and warned people in their vehicles to turn the music down. No further complaints received.

1:49 a.m. – Drayton Valley – Derrick Lounge – Report of intoxicated people sitting in vehicles at the bar and stunting. Police were already on scene and did not observe any such behaviour.

5:48 a.m. – Brazeau County – RR 71 – Complaint of an unsafe transport of a wide load. Police attended, load did appear to be unsafe and advised to have Commercial Vehicle Enforcement inspect the load prior to transporting.

10:33 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 49 Street – Complainant reporting that they found a bike that did not belong to them in their shed. Arrangements were made for police to pick it up; however, the complainant advised while they were away, the bike went missing.

11:27 a.m. – Brazeau County – Hwy 22 – Sometime overnight a vehicle that was left on the side of the road due to mechanical issues had the ignition tampered with in an attempt to steal it.

2:54 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 47 Avenue – Complaint of a firearm in a vehicle. Police located the suspect vehicle and firearm checked. Driver ticketed for having a loaded firearm in a vehicle.

6:12 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Econorest – Member on patrol approached a vehicle and observed female passenger leave on foot. Driver identified, female subsequently located and identified. Driver charged with breaching conditions as he was on a no-contact condition with his passenger

9:45 p.m. – Drayton Valley – North Saskatchewan River – Police were called to two people stranded on the river. RCMP along with Drayton Valley Fire and Emergency Medical Services attended and rescued them. They were assessed for minor injuries.

11:09 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 47 St – Complainant reported his 2005 Yamaha motorcycle stolen. The motorcycle was located later by Parkland RCMP, but it was subsequently stolen again as the suspect returned when only tow company on scene. Motorcycle located back in Drayton Valley on the morning of August 4. Under investigation

August 2

2:08 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 49 St – Complainant reported that his “on again off again” girlfriend was over and he wanted her to leave. Members attended, girlfriend given a ride home, both parties were intoxicated. Situation is “off again.”

3:44 p.m. – Brazeau County – RR80 – Complainant reported harassing communications via Facebook as an ex boyfriend was posting private messages on Facebook. Suspect was warned to stop his behaviour.

4:26 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Recycling bins – Complainant reported a male inside the bins looking for papers. Member attended, male was gone. Male was likely looking for items with a deposit value.

5:00 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 44 St – Members attended to assist EMS with a possible overdose. Female patient cleared by EMS at scene.

8:16 p.m. – Brazeau County – RR80 – Complainant reported a suspicious trucked stopped by an intersection with one occupant out doing something in the bush. Member attended the area but the truck wasn’t located.

8:37 p.m. – Parkland County – Complainant reported receiving threatening phone calls from a number associated to a business in Prince Edward Island. Complainant has no association with the number, older male heard saying “I’ll get you.” Complainant blocked the number.

8:44 p.m. – Brazeau County – Complainant reported people shooting guns on a rural property. Member attended and the persons shooting agreed to stop for the evening.

9:00 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 Ave – Complainant reported a male yelling and holding a can of beer. Members attended and located the male, who is living in a trailer on an adjacent property. The drunk and angry male was told to not wander the area while intoxicated

9:21 p.m. – Brazeau County – Berrymoor area – Complainant reported her shed windows appeared to have been shot. Member attended to investigate, holes may have been caused by lawn mower hitting rocks

9:35 p.m./10:03 p.m. – Drayton Valley – two complaints received regarding a possible assault. Member investigated and determined the incident was better described as a consensual fight.

August 3

12:03 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 47 Ave – Third party complaint of a possibly suicidal male. Member attended and located the male who was intoxicated and sad, but not suicidal.

1:44 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 Ave – Member on patrol observed a car believed to have fled a traffic stop in Breton earlier. Member located the vehicle parked with two males nearby. One of the males was charged and released. Vehicle wasn’t stolen but license plate was

5:06 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 Ave – Members attended a business for an alarm, determined a break and enter had occurred. Under investigation.

11:33 a.m. – Brazeau County – RR80 – Complainant reported a custody dispute with ex. Member spoke to both parties and gave advice.

1:53 p.m. – Lodgepole area – Complainant reported a vehicle driving erratically on Hwy 620, driver possibly impaired. Member patrolled the area but didn’t locate the vehicle. Owner contacted who advised his wife had been driving but she was a good driver

3:00 p.m. – Brazeau County – RR80 – Complainant from 11:33 a.m. called back with further concerns and was given further advice.

8:41 p.m. – Drayton Valley – Skatepark area – Complainant reported a suspicious orange pickup followed her daughter and a friend to the Skatepark. Member spoke to the owner who had been out Pokemon hunting with friends. Pokemon season is always open.

9:12 p.m. – Brazeau County – Complainant reporting a male staying on a friends’ property in a trailer and refusing to leave. Advice was given on eviction procedures

10:12 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 Ave – Complainant reported a camperized school bus drive through a red flashing light, last seen parked by cemetery. Members attended but were distracted by a male with some mental health issues. The bus appeared to be unregistered so actions were taken to prevent it being driven further. Owner retrieved keys in the morning after obtaining temporary insurance and a permit. Driver had been stressed by dogs and kids in the bus and was lost when he failed to stop for the flashing red light.

11:08 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 Ave/RR73 – Complainant reported her neighbour had been approached by a male in a truck with a large cross in the back. Male told her neighbour he was a satan worshipper and was stealing people’s animals. Members were already dealing with this male while on prior call. Male was arrested under the Mental Health Act and taken for treatment.

August 4

12:52 a.m. – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported hearing what may have been a single gun shot. Members patrolled the area described but found no evidence of a firearm being used and no witnesses

5:48 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Complainant reported his stolen Yamaha motorcycle was in parking lot by IGA. Member attended and confirmed it was the stolen motorcycle. Still under investigation.

10:25 a.m. – Brazeau County – RR73 – Complainant reported a break and enter to a business. An enclosed trailer was entered, unknown what may have been taken. Under investigation.

2:22 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 44 Ave – Complainant reported finding a black bag with property inside in back alley. Member attended and retrieved the bag

3:49 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Complainant attended Thorsby detachment to report losing her wallet in Drayton Valley. Complainant had called the location she believed it was lost but it hadn’t been located or turned in

5:01 p.m. – Brazeau County – Hwy 620 – Complainant reported his vehicle window damaged by a rock. Complainant had been following a truck with a “Cat” on back and that the deck and tracks weren’t clean

6:50 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 47 St – open line 911 from a care home, staff had identified the room associated with the call and were investigating.

8:43 p.m. – Brazeau County – RR73 – Complainant reported his garage broken into and a riding lawnmower stolen. Under investigation.

11:28 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 Ave/Industrial Rd – Youth reported being assaulted. Investigation lead to police arresting a 33-year-old male who was released to appear in court at a later date. Investigation ongoing

August 5

12:11 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 47 Ave – Complainant reported a suspicious truck parked in lot of a senior’s residence. Member attended and determined the truck belonged to a new tenant.

7:30 a.m. – Brazeau County – Hwy 22/Twp Rd 494 – Members responded along with Fire Dept. and Ambulance to a three-vehicle collision. Truck traveling south was turning, got rear-ended by the truck behind. First truck was then pushed forward hitting a truck waiting to cross Hwy 22. Extensive damage to the trucks involved, but luckily only minor injuries reported. Under investigation, charge pending against one driver.

9:00 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 52 Ave – Complainant reported a female in front of businesses with her stuff out all over the sidewalk. Female appeared homeless, causing safety concerns. Member attended but the female appeared to have left the area.

10:00 a.m. – Brazeau County – Twp Rd 504 – Complainant reported a truck speeding in the area. Company truck out of Drayton Valley. Company contacted and advised to speak to their driver.

11:14 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Complainant reported a trailer rented early in July hasn’t been returned as per rental contract. Under investigation.

11:16 a.m. – Drayton Valley – 53 Ave – Complainant reported tenant changed her door and door locks and is now essentially squatting. Complainant believes the door may be at a nearby trailer park. Advice was given on eviction procedures and member attended to confirm door still in place.

1:59 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 47 St – Complainant reported a suspicious car in a private parking area. Member attended; plate attached didn’t belong to the vehicle though the vehicle wasn’t stolen. Checks determined that both the incorrect plate and vehicle were unregistered. Plate seized, property representative advised car could be towed

2:19 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Complainant reports her ex is texting her from fake numbers; no contact order in place. Under investigation.

3:14 p.m. – Drayton Valley – 53 Ave – Complainant reported suspicious occurrences in an apartment building. Member attended and determined the building is insecure, anyone can currently gain entry. Advice was given on how to prevent future problems.

3:31 p.m. – Brazeau County – Twp Rd 490 – Complainant called from out of province reporting possible domestic abuse involving family member in Drayton Valley. Under investigation.
