Two people from Sherwood Park are facing multiple charges after RCMP seized drugs from a stolen vehicle during a traffic stop near Nordegg this month.

On July 18, at approximately 6 p.m., Blackfalds Integrated Traffic Unit pulled a vehicle over for speeding on Highway 11 near Nordegg. The roadside interaction drew the attention of Alberta Conservation Officers who also stopped to provide support.

During the stop, police determined that the licence plate on the unregistered and uninsured truck was stolen from the Edmonton area, and that the driver had an outstanding warrant for driving while disqualified. The driver was arrested on his outstanding warrant. A search of the vehicle resulted in the seizure of a controlled substance suspected to be methamphetamine.

The driver of the vehicle, a 41-year-old male from Sherwood Park, has been charged with possession of stolen property under $5000; possession of a controlled substance; driving while disqualified; misuse of licence plate; speeding; unregistered vehicle; and uninsured vehicle.
