Photo radar locations: August 1-31

Jul 30, 2020 | 3:08 PM

Red Deer RCMP has released its planned photo radar locations for the month of August.

Between Aug. 1 and 31, local motorists can expect to see mobile photo radar units operating in the neighbourhoods of Oriole Park, Johnstone, Kentwood, Fairview, West Park, Grandview, Mountview, Sunnybrook, South Hill, Deer Park, Rosedale, Eastview, Clearview, Timberlands.

Mobile units are also planned to be operating in the traffic corridors of Gaetz Avenue, 49 Avenue, Highway 11A, Highway 2A, 39 Street, 67 Street, Burnt Park Drive, Edgar Industrial Drive.

Intersection safety device cameras will be located at Gaetz Avenue & 59 Street, 32 Street & 30 Avenue, Gaetz Avenue & 32 Street, and 50 Street & 30 Avenue.

The City of Red Deer’s Automated Traffic Enforcement Program includes photo laser, red light cameras and intersection speed cameras. These tools, along with conventional traffic enforcement and education campaigns, are said to help make Red Deer’s roads safer. By reducing speed, both the number and severity of collisions is expected to be reduced.

RCMP say Automated Traffic Enforcement operates in areas where speeding has been identified as a community concern; there has been an identifiable, documented history of collisions; a high volume of pedestrians; and areas where conventional enforcement is ineffective or unsafe.

Please note that the RCMP reserves the right to change site locations without notice.
