Alberta sees slight increase in active COVID-19 cases

After seeing a small decrease on Tuesday, Alberta is reporting a slight increase in the number of active COVID-19 cases across the province.

The province is reporting 1,430 active cases as of Wednesday, an increase of 33.

The number of recoveries in the province has risen by 97 to 8,983.

Overall, Alberta has confirmed another 133 cases of COVID-19, including 28 in the Central Zone, to bring the province’s total to 10,603.

Alberta completed 8,975 tests on July 28.

The number of hospitalizations in the province is 87, a decrease of one, while 17 people are in intensive care, an increase of one.

Three more deaths from the virus were reported, all at an Edmonton long-term care centre, bringing Alberta’s total to 190.

Red Deer now has 11 active cases of the virus, which is one more than yesterday’s report. The number of recoveries in our city remains listed at 44.

Across the Central Zone there are now 175 active cases, 19 more than Tuesday, and 181 recoveries, an increase of nine. There are 19 hospitalizations in the zone, two less than Tuesday’s report, including five in intensive care.

There are currently 27 active cases in Stettler County (no change), eight in Red Deer County (decrease of one), seven in Sylvan Lake (no change), nine in Lacombe County (increase of one), one in the city of Lacombe (no change), three in Ponoka County (no change), two in Rocky Mountain House (no change), one in Sundre (no change), seven in Kneehill County (decrease of four) and 12 in Starland County (no change).
