Town of Penhold completes green energy initiative
Officials with the Town of Penhold say a major green energy initiative in the community has now been complete.
The project saw a retrofit of over 1200 lights in the Penhold Regional Multiplex facility. Converting to LED lights is anticipated to see potential cost savings of roughly $25,816 per year and an energy savings of roughly 272,353 kWh per year. In addition, the retrofit is expected to decrease the Town’s Green House Gas emissions by roughly 172.9 Tonnes.
“The REC grant from the MCCAC has allowed us to replace all of our lights from traditional fluorescent lights to clean and bright LED lights,” says Multiplex Manager, Michael Szewczuk, in a press release. “All of our fixtures in the facility have been converted to LED and we can notice the difference in the amount of light given off and quality. It’s been a great project for Penhold.”
Mayor Mike Yargeau stated, “Taking advantage of new technologies and available grants has helped the Town of Penhold reduce operating costs. This project, combined with the installation of over 1000 solar panels will save the town thousands per year.”
