Rocky RCMP Report July 15- 21

This is a report released to the media from the Rocky Mountain House (RMH) RCMP giving a brief description of various crimes and call-ins, both solved and unsolved throughout the community between the dates of July 15- 21, 2020.

Not all crimes reported are listed in this report.

July 15

4:03 A.M. – Police stopped a vehicle in RMH and arrested a male passenger who had outstanding arrest warrants. A quantity of fentanyl was located on his person and further charges have been laid. He was released on a $300 cash bail.

6:17 A.M. – Report of a theft of lawn care equipment and tools from a residence in RMH. The suspect vehicle was described as a green FORD Ranger with a white canopy. It’s still under investigation

7:21 P.M. – Police called for an intoxicated female requiring assistance at a local RMH bar. Police attended and gave her a ride home.

8:01 P.M. – 911 call of a white FORD F250 stolen after another red FORD pickup was seen dropping off a male off in Caroline. Police located and pursued the red truck after it failed to stop on Arbutus Road. A spike belt was utilized but the vehicle continued to flee into Red Deer where 2 suspects fled on foot. The white FORD pickup truck was later found abandoned. Investigation is continuing.

10:37 P.M. – Call of a male passed out on the lawn of a RMH Hotel. Police attended and arrested the individual who was released after he had sobered up.

July 16

00:50 A.M. – Report of an assault, with firearms involved, which took place on the O’Chiese First Nation Reserve. Police are investigating

8:18 A.M. – Theft of $4,000 worth of copper wire from an oilfield site in Clearwater County.

July 17

2:03 A.M. – Stolen flat deck DODGE Ram pickup truck stolen along with a trailer/ATV from a RMH Hotel. The trailer and ATV were recovered on Highway #12 and the truck had been found abandoned in Wetaskiwin.

5:14 A.M. – B&E reported to the Caroline Hotel. Police attended and cleared the building. Two individuals, seen on video surveillance, entered an unlocked door and stole a few bottles of liquor.

10:00 A.M. – Complaint of extortion in RMH. Police resolved the situation between the 2 parties.

6:03 P.M. – Report of a 1997 light blue GMC Sierra stolen from a residence in RMH by 2 males.

6:18 P.M. – Call of a female walking in the middle of the road on 62 street in RMH and then sitting down on the railway tracks. The town CPO and police attended. She was arrested and placed in a cell until sober.

July 18

2:05 A.M. – Complaint of a B&E at a residence in RMH, which occurred while the residents were asleep. An adult male, known to them, assaulted and threatened one of the residents. Police attended and subsequently located and arrested an adult male who is facing a number of charges. He was released by a JP and is due in RMH Provincial Court in August.

10:27 A.M. – Theft of a licence plate stolen off a Dodge Caravan while it was parked at a residence on 52 Ave, RHM.

12:58 P.M. – Call of a male passed out in a vehicle on SecHwy # 761, north of Leslieville. Police attended and arrested an adult male, from Blackfalds, for impaired driving.

9:17 P.M. – Call of a possible impaired driving observed leaving a RMH bar. Police located the vehicle and the female driver near her residence, where she was arrested. Breath samples obtained were over 3 times the legal limit and charges will be laid.

July 19

3:48 A.M. – Call of a request to assist EMS with a female who had been seriously assaulted by another female on the Sunchild First Nation Reserve. The victim was transported to the hospital by EMS and the police continue to investigate.

8:43 A.M. – Report of a theft from an oilfield site in Clearwater County. Culprit(s) tied a tow rope to power lines and pulled it from the transformer creating a very unsafe electrical hazard.

9:08 A.M. – Ground cables and batteries stolen from an ungated lease site in Clearwater County.

3:07 P.M. – RMH Crime Reduction Unit attempted to stop a vehicle which did not have a licence plate. The vehicle fled at a high rate of speed, failing to stop at stop signs, and passing on double solid lines. The female driver was identified by police. She was wanted on an outstanding arrest warrant and is suspended from driving. As well, she was at large on a Probation Order and a Release Order with numerous conditions. The pursuit was discontinued for safety reasons. This prolific offender was arrested in Red Deer the following day. She is facing 6 new charges and was remanded by a JP to appear back in RMH Provincial Court July 22.

4:51 P.M. – Vehicle reported stolen on the Sunchild First Nation Reserve which was later found burnt out on a lease site. Under investigation.

July 20

7:11 A.M. – Garage broken into at a residence in RMH. Fishing equipment, alcohol, darts, and other items were stolen. Some items were located stashed behind a dumpster nearby.

11:03 A.M. – Licence plate stolen from a residence in Clearwater County.

1:19 P.M. – Unlocked garage broken into at a residence in RMH. A black Rockwell 4” saw and bag were stolen.

July 21

10:41 A.M. – RMH RCMP Crime Reduction Unit arrested an adult male prolific offender in RMH who had outstanding warrants. After being arrested, police discovered a firearm concealed in his duffle bag. The suspect is on a court ordered prohibition not to possess firearms or ammunition. As well, he is on conditions as a result of a previous release order. He was remanded in custody until a hearing later in the week.

8:24 P.M. – Report of a stolen puppy and licence plate stolen from a residence on the Sunchild First Nation Reserve. Under investigation.

8:40 P.M. – Police were flagged down by a driver in RMH who witnessed a vehicle driving erratically and then pulling into a liquor store parking lot. Police conducted a traffic stop and arrested a male who failed the alcohol screening device. Charges are pending.
