Body found in creek near Edson

EDSON- RCMP say a man who allegedly fled officers during a vehicle stop late last month has been found dead in a creek, just downstream from where they say he’d crashed.

Mounties say officers attempted to stop a vehicle on Highway 16 on June 29, but they say the 44-year-old Edmonton man sped off and police didn’t chase him for safety reasons.

They say a short time later the vehicle went off the road and rolled multiple times into a creek off Highway 16.

Police say heavy rain earlier this month made underwater searches unsafe, but they say relatives located his body on Saturday about 250 metres downstream from the crash scene.
