Rocky RCMP Report July 2-8

This is a report released to the media from the Rocky Mountain House (RMH) RCMP giving a brief description of various crimes and call-ins, both solved and unsolved throughout the community between the dates of July 2-8.

Not all crimes reported are listed in this report.

July 2

3:37 A.M. – Home invasion, complainant reported boyfriend damaged her vehicle, and kicked her door down. Members along with Police Dog Services attended. Subject located after extensive search. Charges pending.

1:00 A.M. – Members responded to a smash and grab where a red truck had its window smashed, tools and vehicle documents stolen. Charges were laid.

3:17 P.M. – Break and enter. Items that were stolen included a Husqvarna lawnmower with one inch & 7/8 quarter chrome hitch on it, small tub trailer for a quad, 150-gallon air compressor, break box missing & engine hoist missing. Police are still investigating.

6:00 P.M. – Break and Enter. A karaoke machine was stolen from a garage.

July 3

2:58 A.M. – Report of a home invasion on the O’Chiese First Nation. Door was cut down with an axe and a backpack with marihuana was stolen. Under investigation.

9:00 A.M. – A community mailbox was tampered with, the mailboxes being pried open. Resident’s mail and packages were stolen. Police are looking for leads.

4:38 P.M. – Rocky RCMP received report that a house was broken into on the Sunchild First nation. The suspect took a laptop, TV and other assorted items. The suspect then assaulted the victim with a weapon. The suspect was caught by police and is in custody.

July 4

6:38 P.M. – A red Jeep Cherokee crashed into a pole by the Burger Baron. The driver fled the scene but was later apprehended by RCMP members. Impaired operation of a motor vehicle charges have been laid against the driver.

11:25 A.M. – Complaint of a possible impaired driver had RCMP members initiate a traffic stop. The Driver was arrested for impaired operation of a motor vehicle and operating a motor vehicle while suspended. Charges laid.

July 5

8:00 P.M. – A bicycle was stolen out of the back of a pick up truck while the owner was in MacDonald’s getting some dinner. The thief is believe to have left his bike behind.

4:35 A.M. – Police were flagged down by youth in a pick up truck. The youth reported that they had been threated earlier by an individual brandishing a large knife. Police were able to locate the suspect vehicle. The occupants of the vehicle were arrested and charges are pending.

July 7

9:06 A.M. – O’Chiese First Nation Youth Justice building and Community Centre broken into. Windows were smashed and food was taken. Still under investigation.

July 8

8:21 A.M. – Police were called to the CIBC to remove a person who was camping out in the automated teller area of the bank. Police arrived but the camper had exited the bank before police arrived.

7:00 P.M. – A ride on lawn mower was taken from a rural address. A former tenant had taken the lawn mower. Charges pending.

5:28 A.M. – B&E to a local business in Rocky Mountain House. The gate to the yard was opened and an office window was broken. Shops in the yard were broken into, and two trucks stolen. Police are investigating.

7:30 A.M. – B&E to another local business. The Yard gate was found open, Cables and tools taken at a value of $20,000. Still under investigation.

3:00 P.M. – Charges pending after the driver of a vehicle failed a roadside alcohol screening when the vehicle was stopped by RCMP.

5:28 A.M. – Dodge Durango stolen sometime over night.
